Larry, put one of your Prey's in a box, hide it away for 60 years, Will it to your kids just in case you are no longer with us. Just think it might still be worth $20!:rotf2:

Simply amazes me:doh::doh: bunch of collectors who have no sense at all bidding up a plug that is worth about $300 although they hype up about condition being nib. And the fact that there appears to be shill bidders and backdoor tactics by both the seller and bidders.
I'd lmao if the seller puts up 5 or six more of the same plugs in a couple of weeks!

Thank god I only buy plugs to fish! I spend enough fishing related items as it is, prices on some of these collectible items are insane…

One post and it's a link to a lure for sale on Fleabay? I think it's very likely that The Clam is the seller of this item and is looking to drive the price up.

The whole thing smells, and smells BAD!! Mystery box of new Snook lures found in house, auctions closed, opened again, shill bidding and a bunch of ................I'm not going to say anymore.

Don't kid yourself....its not only a very scarce lure (They only were in business for 2 years I think maybe 3??) scarce enough in beatup, fished condition but in brand new condition with a box which is mint.....those prices may be a bit on the high side but not too far out of line.

well after seeing 2 other threads started by this clam, it appears likely fishbones is correct in my opinion.

when you are a new member, your first threads need approval I guess, so , sorry I am the stupid one that approved this.

Larry, I see your point but what I see with these auctions is a group of collectors who all know each other (and probably belong to the same collectors clubs) bidding against each other so one can basically say I have more money than you and I've got the better collection... May I also quote VB:
"This is a Great Hobby that does not cost 1300 per lure
Most of the people I know who collect are doing if for the fun, and new people they meet not as a investment !!!!!!
That should be rule # 1
Please remember to have fun don't break the kid's piggy bank for a 3inch chunk of wood, God only knows what tomorrows finds will be"

To each his own, but I would rather just make an accurate copy of the plugs and fish em...that's would be my enjoyment!

End of rant!! Hope to make it to Plugfest and meet everyone.

Sarge folks who collect high end stuff like that are not only doing it because they enjoy it....they are doing their part to preserve the history of this sport. $1,500 was not bad I think on an item like that.....you have to understand the history of Snook Bait Co. to get the entire picture. They are as scarce as hen's teeth! And that one is a mint hen's tooth!
