View Full Version : Best Neighbor Award
O.D. Mike 02-06-2011, 09:54 PM I have to vote for my neighbor that let me use his Bobcat today. It kind of reminded me of Tank Battle. By the time I got the hang of it, it was time to bring it back. On the way out of my drive way I thought, I'm getting pretty good at this, so why not widen the end of my driveway. Ended up ripping my mail box off the post! :smash:
JohnnyD 02-06-2011, 11:26 PM Don't you need to hire some Union guys, a super and pull proper permits to do something like that?:grins:
Hookedagain 02-07-2011, 09:17 AM Thats funny....I have a neighbor who owns an asphalt company and I was redoing my entire front yard and part of the side. He drive by me every day when he comes home for lunch and again at the end of the day. Most times he is in his dump truck with either a backhoe or a bobcat on the trailer. Never once offers help. I ran into a boulder the size of a Volkswagon and asked him if he could move it for me.....and was told he doesn't lend his machine out. I offered to pay him to do it....not so much. And after all that, he watched me spread 94 yards of loam witha a wheelbarrow. Mike can I have YOUR neighbors phone #??
buckman 02-07-2011, 11:42 AM Being a contractor my whole life, I can tell you there is no end to the good deeds you can do for your neighbors, family and friends. I shoveled off more roofs this weekend then you can count on one hand. All for free. Never has anyone offered me any free service of their profession. Put yourselfs in their shoes. Probably worked 100 hrs without seeing their families and they get to feel guilty for pulling into their homes for some sleep. You have a great neighbor Mike.
Hookedagain 02-07-2011, 04:08 PM I ubderstand Buckman...I'm a building contractor and have always helped family, friends, and neighbors. I wasn't asking for something for mothing...I wanted to pay him or rent his machine for a while.
justplugit 02-07-2011, 04:44 PM Yah gotta good neighbor there MIke. :D
It's always the guys that know what hard work is that offer the help.
The smart arses, that don't know the right end of a shovel, are
usually the ones who stand with their hands on their hips, watch and
make wise arse remarks.
Have offered to help, done work and many favors for all my neighbors for over 40 years and not one has offered or returned a favor.
But that's alright, while not a door mat,I like the feeling of helping. :)
O.D. Mike 02-07-2011, 07:15 PM I always offer to help my neighbor, that's what friends do for each other. Lets see from Jack Daniels, Gentleman Jack, cases of beer, taking him fishing, electrical work, splitting firewood, to cooking fresh fish for dinner, because his wife doesn't cook fish.....
One day a couple years ago I was on an extension ladder cutting down a tree branch in my driveway with a cordless sawzall. I hear a Harley startup, pull up to the street, then he pulls down my driveway and shuts off the bike. He says, "Mike, I haven't seen someone fall out of a tree in a long time". I said, "I haven't fallen out of a tree in a long time".
"Hey Mike I have a bucket truck and a chain saw". Never thought I would type this but BFF!!!!!
Mike you are one of the lucky ones to have a good neighbor like that.
BTW thanks for the Krackin......Real good stuff:buds:
