View Full Version : Ice fishing suit
Green Light 02-06-2011, 09:54 PM My Timberland insulated overalls are busting at the seams, complements of all the powdered sunshine this year. ;-).
I am thinking of picking up an ice fishing suit for next season. Does anyone have any opinions/experience with the Artic Armor or Frabil ice fishing suits?
Aside: The plus side to all this snow is that instead of putting on weight in the winter, I am loosing some. ;-).
Kierran 02-07-2011, 11:03 AM I own the Artic Armor bibs and love them. Jet black in color, which I like. They say the suit floats, although I never want to find out. It's insulated so no need to go nuts with layering underneath. It's got full-length zippers on the legs for easy-in and out of boots, etc. Good gator system for keeping snow out too. Big cargo pockets on the front of pants that are nice. Decent price point as well. You'll be happy with the purchase. Good luck.

Everything he said. Plus you can check out the videos of people actually floating with them on their website. Well worth the money. Most of the times out this year I had just a t-shirt on under the jacket and long johns under the bib. VERY WARM
STREETFIGHT 02-07-2011, 04:10 PM ice armor works great for me but if/(when) i had it to do over again i'd up-grade to the arctic armor for the floatation. it costs a little more thean the ice armor suit but it looks like its worth it.
Green Light 11-20-2011, 07:29 PM What vendor (online or brick and mortar) would you recommend for an Artic Armor ice suit?
PS
It took a while, but I finally found the company's website: http://www.idigear.com/.
MAKAI 11-20-2011, 07:46 PM Are Ice armor bibs waterproof ? Thinking more snow blowing as it turns to rain.

That's where I bought mine. I called 1st to get info on how the sizes run. Very helpful with great service and shipping. Ask if they have any green ones left at a discount.

Sea of Atlas 11-20-2011, 10:00 PM almost went with arctic armor but decided on mustang integrity since you can use it late season in a boat and its built for coldwater immersion. very happy with it.

Green Light 12-03-2011, 08:22 PM I was about the order the Artic Armour suit...when I got a txt message about a sup'ah deal on a Frabill IceSuit for $150.00. I could not pass it up. It fits awesome. Plenty of pockets and padding where you need it (e.g. knees). I cannot wait to try it out. I'll keep you posted.

Does it float?
Green Light 12-09-2011, 08:23 PM WESTPORTMAFIA,
It does not float. For first and last ice conditions, I have a USCG approved PFD.
