denport 02-09-2011, 10:05 PM I own an original oil painting by a world famous artist I am looking to sell to another collector/ivestor. I bought it at the wrong time and need to liquidate for a loss. He has pieces hanging in The Royal Palaces in England as well as several Italian palaces and the corporate headquarters of Sony and Fuji, just to name a few. Mark Cuban also owns many of his pieces. Similarly sized painting have sold for over $30,000. I am in a bind to save my house. $7,500. Signatures {front and back} have been authenticated. S-B.com gets 5% of the sale if it sells here. PM for more info and pics
Bronko 02-09-2011, 10:08 PM What is the artists name?
keeperreaper 02-10-2011, 06:52 AM Pete buy it and put it next to your Van Gogh and Rembrandt in the library of your house.
Why wouldn't you list the artist??
Strange.

Been watching a lot of Pawn Stars and American Pickers lately. Always Authenticate!
Swimmer 02-11-2011, 01:09 PM :devil2:Then why not consign it to Sotheby's for thier next auction.:devil2:
?????????????????
BigFish 02-11-2011, 01:12 PM His name is "Art"......it says so at the title of the thread!:)
I hate Mark Cuban....he is an "Ass-Hat Extraordinaire"!
ProfessorM 02-11-2011, 04:20 PM bummer, but I think it would clash with my pass it down to Paul so nothing matches interior decor. Good luck.
denport 02-11-2011, 06:55 PM Remo Trentini. Yes, Cuban is a ginormous ass-hat. Sotheby's NY wants to buy it outright for $7,000 and hold onto it for several years until his authorized biography comes out. I would have to pay taxes on that. And I can't wait that long. :fury:
Dude..
YOU should sit on it for several years.

That sucks. But if you need to roll it for more important reasons there must be professionals you could run through if it is what you claim. Certainly appreciate the thought and hope it works out for you.

maybe contact one of the galleries that have a number of his works currently, this one has 17 oils on their site by your artist....several possiblities, they might buy it, they might have a buyer looking for your particular artist desiring your particular genre which appears to be a Venice scene?,( I like his marine and westerns- buffalo) he apparently painted a wide variety of subject matter, they may take it on consignment and possibly give you some money up front in the form of an advance if they feel it's got a good prospect of moving quickly...good luck...Sby's and Christies have been more and more difficult to deal with particularly with single items and the fees are ridiculous...
denport 02-14-2011, 10:23 PM Thanks Scott. A great lead!
scottw 02-15-2011, 07:49 AM with that many paintings in stock by your artist they either exhibited for him or are actively buying his work to service a clientel...hopefully the latter for your case and benefit..and one is marked SOLD....you seem to be way under the money for comparable work...modern artists are a bit tricky and trendy rather than having established sales records and those can be somewhat regional rather than widely acknowledged...best to go to the place where the most activity is occuring, he died in Dallas....his prices seem to range from 5-80,000??(noticed that his son has a small portrait listed on his site for 5 grand)( if you can get on ADEC you can try to find an actual sales record) for different media, what was the estimate that S'bys gave you?
RIROCKHOUND 02-16-2011, 07:51 AM Thanks Scott. A great lead!
What S-B is best at!
Scott, your politics are questionable, but you're A-OK
scottw 02-16-2011, 10:06 AM I love you too Bry :)
