screw spring..it only means tons of yard work..house painting..window washing..tree trimming...indoor spring cleaning..then the same at the shop and then down to mothers house and do it all there....winter is never long enough...whats a fish?

you know those things that you catch with those thousands of wooden things you make down your cellar.

We're back to the icy mess but there is little more than time holding back the warm puffs of wind from sou'west, rivers swelling with spawning fish, and a sense or urgency mixed with joy that brings spring.

First smell of skunk Sunday night. Trust them more than the groundhogs. But it will be New England "spring" for a while. 60 one day and 10 that night, and 55 two days later, and 20 that night.... then everybody in the schools gets sick. Find a nice runoff day night and fish for holdovers starting now. Little shrimpy like flies up in the flow.

the Onset of spring is More governed by soil temperature

Than air Temperature....

Chipmunks hibernate until the soil temerature
signals their body to wake up..... best indicator IMHO

Let me Know when you see or hear them

not "feeelin it" yet, not til

i'm "reeelin it" in, then's when

i'll shorely know, 'tween the surf and the night

the rocks and the hops and the drag that goes zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzoom.

until then, it's all just wishful thinking, memories of monsters missed and
biggurls hit, and prepping for the NEXT migration, whilest all the while

i'll be biding my dreams and money shot smiles for the forsythian bloom

,,,,,,,,,,,,and the bait that swims near,,,,,,,,,,,,,

for me and my gear, that's what makes it Striperin' Time 'round here!!!

I heard and saw my first red wing blackbirds yesterday. Not the first sign of spring, but the first sign that spring is getting closer. Last year I planted my first pea and spinach seeds about March 15 - three weeks to go.
