View Full Version : Prudence Island?
danbrut 02-24-2011, 05:00 PM Hello Folks -
We are in search of a new island to land our 18' Maxum for sand and the usual cook-out this upcoming boating season. What's it like over there on Prudence, where is it cool to pull up a boat and what is wierd to look out for?
Thanks in advance
Waiting for Summer
keeperreaper 02-24-2011, 05:20 PM Potter's Cove is the hangout for boats and rafting up. Eveyone has been very chill and inviting the handful of times I've been there. My neighbor has a house there and that is where the party every weekend. Close to shore around the island there are certain place where there are rocks to be watchful of. PM me for more details.
JohnR 02-24-2011, 05:53 PM Bring your tick spray. I think Clammer was mentioning no more overnight there anymore.

that.s the cove around to the EAST .. where 1000 pleasure boats rush to spend the weekend .
Where you mean there are only a couple of hundred / most spend the day //a few stay on there boats for the w/e .
But you now can tuck in on the north side of t-warf . down @ the southern tip .
But I,d stay below the high tide line or on the dirt roads ;
the ticks are realllly bad on both islands ><><
Also the eastern end of Pine Hill cove is nice
A south or S/W will kick it up . but its sandy & a better place to swim IMO .
Don,t pay any attention to the above /// its spot burning :uhuh:
RIROCKHOUND 02-25-2011, 08:41 AM When the wind isn't honking out of the west, people beach on the neck between the two parts of Prudence. Just watch the eelgrass

db - we take our boat frequently to Prudence and into Potters Cove as Keeperreaper mentioned. Once you enter the cove, you'll see a ton of larger boats moored, bear to the right and you can beach your boat on the inside of the point. Its very sheltered and there are no hazards that I've seen. Just be cautious of the dropping tide. On a nice day there will be a ton of boats there and its pretty family friendly. We have tubes and the kids drift out in them and also jump off the boat. In august, the snapper blues are all over there and I have a blast with the kids. We've also beached on Patience, in the channel between Pat and Pru. The only issue there is that there is boat traffic in the channel and its a pain getting the boat anchored and not having it move.

Now is it any wonder why you have trouble catching bass. PH is hot and I mean hot at certain times of the year. I had 8 30#+ bass one morning long ago at "The Hill". Was #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&'s "go to" spot when things got tough. RIR has a seagull steal his pogie one morning from one of the biggest bass we ever saw. Bass had a back about 1 foot wide. All near or at "The Hill.
RIROCKHOUND 02-26-2011, 01:08 PM She was pushing 50 if I've ever seen one. looked like a beer keg rolling on the pogie. damn gull grabbed the stunned pogie....

Two things.
1. Paul and I are both OK at judging a fishes size..
2. 70's... we're talking fish, not your silver foxes
I'll change my profile next week bud :biglaugh:
