View Full Version : Back in the saddle
Muskyslayer96 02-27-2011, 08:10 PM Hey guys,
Spent the day in the paint show, wanted to share some of the progress. These are all for trades to fellow builders. My version of "perch",and my "Tony the tiger" musky shad. I have about 30 more ready for paint. These are all done with pearls, still need the lips epoxied and a couple more coats of clear. Let me know your comments.
Forgive the poor quality photos, I'm challenged at pics

striperman36 02-27-2011, 08:48 PM do you use automotive paints or water based like createx products?
chumbucket 02-27-2011, 08:54 PM I like the way you do the stylized head/gill area. Very effective.
Nice colors too.
Muskyslayer96 02-27-2011, 09:09 PM Thanks guys for th feedback:)
I use waterbased, mostly createx, but the hobby store carries some cool metallics I like to thin down and use. whenever possible I use pearls, they really set a plug off in natural light.

striperman36 02-27-2011, 09:15 PM thank you.
numbskull 02-28-2011, 07:10 AM Cool body shape, the eyes are awesome, and the paint work first rate.
The lips , however, look very fragile. Do they hold up? What are they made of?
Muskyslayer96 02-28-2011, 05:39 PM Thanks guys,
Numbskull, the lips are not epoxied in yet, they are made of SS, I make them and they have held up quite well, and allow for tuning. I forget the gauge of SS, bit it's close to the gauge that the purchased lips are, not sure why the pics don't capture it well, could be the reflection and the finished edge?

numbskull 02-28-2011, 06:39 PM Yup, I thought they were plastic. Stainless makes sense.
chefchris401 02-28-2011, 07:41 PM MS- how deep do they swim??
Please post pics once there epoxied!
