View Full Version : Merriweather Raider Ronnie 03-10-2011, 10:35 AM I thought the Pats only drafted "character" guys !:smash: fishsmith 03-10-2011, 10:55 AM This might be why you don't get your USPS packages, your postman is a Pats fan!! :rotf2: JohnnyD 03-10-2011, 11:06 AM A Raiders fan should keep quiet when it comes to a player's character. Also... "Attorney John Morgan told Deadspin that Meriweather shot his clients in retaliation for a friend of the NFL player was beaten up. According to Morgan, Meriweather allegedly pulled out his gun and fired at the brother, grazing the man's face and hitting the other victim in the head. ... And Morgan told WEEI radio, per the Boston Globe, this morning that he wasn't sure if Meriweather was the shooter: 'I have a lot of doubt about that,' Morgan said. 'That’s what these fellas told me, but I don’t assume that to be true at all. I assume nothing to be true until we get an investigation completed. Their allegation to me is … one of the fellas was in a fight with someone else out there and their allegation is that Meriweather shot him. That bullet grazed that fellas head and hit the second client, went through the cheek and head… the cops have had this case for two weeks.' Meanwhile, WESH-TV reported that two men suffered gunshot wounds and went to a hospital and are in stable condition. Per the report, they aren't cooperating with the investigation and don't want to press charges." Pats' Merriweather accused by lawyer in shooting, no charges filed | National Football Post (http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Pats-Merriweather-accused-by-lawyer-in-shooting-no-charges-filed.html) Two men shot by an NFL player and they don't want to press charges... but they have their lawyer involved??? Sounds like a couple of fellas are trying to cash in. Piscator 03-10-2011, 12:37 PM I just heard on 98.5 that Merriweather is not in any of the police reports on the incident? Piscator 03-10-2011, 12:44 PM I thought the Pats only drafted "character" guys !:smash: Ronnie, are you telling me this guy is guilty? He looks like a fine young man Give him the benefit of the doubt :rotf2: Raider Ronnie 03-10-2011, 01:10 PM Not his 1st brush with the law having to do with a gun. Never in my life as a Raider said that Raiders care about character especially if they can play ! The Dad Fisherman 03-10-2011, 01:28 PM I don't even think they care if they can play either.... nightfighter 03-10-2011, 04:01 PM Mrs Kraft aint gonna like this... Another gun toting criminal from the U.... Miami (the university) has more than its share of former players, not neccesarily graduates, that should be in jail instead of making millions in the NFL. Case in point #1 Ray Lewis. I would be surprised if they weren't at least shopping him around to see what he would get them in trade. Krafts don't go for this crap.... See ya, Brandon. Raven 03-10-2011, 04:13 PM he A cowboy he can jus ride into the sun set BigFish 03-10-2011, 07:06 PM They need to draft people who are better shooters.....I give him credit for trying to save on bullets by trying to kill 2 pieces o' crap with one stone!:rotf2::rotf2::rotf2: Maybe he needs to spend more time at the range? Slipknot 03-10-2011, 07:32 PM They need to draft people who are better shooters.....I give him credit for trying to save on bullets by trying to kill 2 pieces o' crap with one stone!:rotf2::rotf2::rotf2: Maybe he needs to spend more time at the range? one of them was his own cousin I don't think Merriweather was the shooter I would not jump to conclusions Raider Ronnie 03-10-2011, 07:54 PM one of them was his own cousin I don't think Merriweather was the shooter I would not jump to conclusions Back to my 1st post about the Pats and their history of drafting and signing guys of good character (thats actually meant as a compliment to the Pats) This is not the 1st time the guy has had gun issues & the police., What the hell is the guy doing carrying a loaded gun anyway ??? Can't imaging Tom Brady Troy Brown, Kevin Faulk, Teddy Brushi, ect.....ever carry one around ! Slipknot 03-10-2011, 08:05 PM His first incedent I thought involved a breakin or something and he was outside his home carrying a concealed weapon which he has a permit to do so. I bet Matt Light would have no problem carrying a weapon. and how do you know those guys don't have a permit to carry? they might, we just don't hear about it. I'm not any big fan of Merriweather and don't vouch for his character for sure. I was thinking he would not be back next year or the next even before this publicity. Swimmer 03-10-2011, 10:11 PM Just an attorney looking for the deepest pockets at the party. JohnnyD 03-11-2011, 10:11 AM What the hell is the guy doing carrying a loaded gun anyway ??? As long as he is properly permitted, he has every legal right to do so. The issue isn't "why is he carrying" but, "could he have avoided being put in the situation?" If I were making a 7-figure salary and was a popular athlete, I'd carry too. nightfighter 03-11-2011, 10:17 AM If I were making a 7-figure salary and was a popular athlete, I'd carry too. Why? I had a discussion with my now 18 yo son about this. He was of the opinion that all these athletes "need" to carry.... I just don't get it. Where are they going that they need to have a weapon on their person? The Dad Fisherman 03-11-2011, 11:41 AM Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. american spirit 03-12-2011, 04:22 PM i like when 98.5 plays the "act like lil kidz" and "big bang clock" clips of him. if he leaves i'll miss him being made fun of on the radio.
