Ahhhh,
I think we may need to find a new venue next year. The hotel people were PISSED at me for the fire extinguisher antics (that I missed)....We'll see if they charge me the $100 for the cleanup! Hope you weight room kids had fun (I hear you did).
Oh well,
I also find it strangely ironic that the one year I don't get F'd up, I get charged!

Cost an extra 50 bucks for disturbance and clean up fees. The girl at the desk was really nice, but did say we may not be welcome back next year. This was my first TFCTFN and the venue was great maybe we can sneak in again next year, just use different names on the cc cards. It was a great time. Thanks for everyone who did the work. looking forward to it next year.

had a great time what the hell happened at the hotel?

Seems like two :smash: heads thought it would be fun to squirt each other with a fire extinguisher in a small room filling it with the dust thus setting of the fire alarm. I assume the 50 fee is to cover the false alarm and cleaning of the room.

John, did the treadmill get you?

No, I wiped out chasing the Aquatic Donkey in the hotel parking lot.
How fast was the treadmill going for the challenge? There was no way I was getting on that thing in the shape I was in. It's too bad the fire extinguisher went off. There was barely any time for fitness room hijinks.

Did you call the hotel, Casey? They'll remove the charges since if they have video (like they claim to have), they'll clearly see that you didn't do it.

I still haven't checked to see if they charged my card, but there's no way I'm paying for it.

5/0's right. I called last night because nothing was mentioned to me about them adding anything to my bill when I checked out. The woman who answered was the one who checked most of us in on Sat. and said that they were matching up the copies of our licenses to the people in the video. I told her to have the General Manager call me today, so we'll see how that goes. There's no way I'm paying anything to them because I was standing in the room when it happened.

They have cameras in all the hallways. There was a camera right as you leave the gym on the left. I don't believe there was one inside. My opinion is we were all there a little intoxicated. The hotel had to go through the bullcrap of having their fire system set off disturbing other guests. They also had to be accountable for the cleanup and to the fire department. I didn't set of the fire extinguisher but still feel guilty by association and hopefuly we get to stay there again. John, if you hear from the manager I would like to know what happens. I just feel like if we all call there bitching we won't be allowed back at all.

I wasn't happy to pay the 50 bucks but the girl at the checkout counter and i had a good laugh about it. She said it was likely that we would not be allowed back. I was under the assumption that our names would be sort of blacklisted in the computer. I would like to be able to stay there again next year. It seems like the perfect venue for the event.

Casey, I spoke to the hotel GM yesterday and she basically said that the charges are for the "disturbance caused by our group" and the fitness room incident. Apparently there was someone outside our rooms snickering at the GM when she came upstairs to quiet things down at 3am. Three people checked out because our group was so loud, too. I can't believe I slept through the loud partying and guitar playing. She said to check back next week after they've had a chance to match the surveillance video to our license photos, but it sounds like we're all stuck with the charges if they saw us on video. And she said we're all on a list and are banned from the hotel until further notice. She was pretty nice about it, though.

I think we have to find another place next year. The Hotel doesn't like us anymore. The VFW guys are not thrilled with the folks bringing their own beer and drinking outside on the stairs.
We are persona non gratia in Fairhaven. Let's move it to Newport or Porsmouth or even Narragansett. It's a long ride for me no matter where we have it so I don't care.

How about the biker bar in Bourne across from the Railroad Bridge? I see fights there all the time.:rotf2::rotf2:

This VFW has seen worst from the locals so I don't see any problem with them in the future.
The problem is the Seaport motel next doorl. There are few motels within a 1 mile and more within 2 miles of the Fairhaven VFW. Also the motels and hotels in this area are likely the least expensive in all of MA and RI.

That VFW post saw a stabbing outside of it a couple of years ago. They almost lost their liquor license as a result. But, I guess the culprits didn't bring in their own beer, so that was OK.

Next year, book some rooms at some quality joints in Dartmouth, like the Moby #^&#^&#^&#^&, the Capri, or the King's Inn. :rotf2:

I have been a bartender since 1974 ( and boy have I got stories to tell ) in addition to many other things. Now I just do functions as needed.

It's a tough job, I am responsible for the sobriety of the room. I can't let anyone leave drunk, regardless if you are driving or not. It's hard enough controlling an all out hootenanny, but when you bring in your own stash c'mon.

I had a bunch of guys sitting at a high top whistling down some bud light cans, we don't sell cans. So I walk up to them and they have a 30 pack in a cooler under the table. I say " What the F*** ! Do you guys bring sand to a beach ? Grow up, put that back in your car, come back in and drink like adults. "

Act like you've scored a touchdown before.

Plus, it's not like that VFW post charges an arm and a leg for a beer. I paid $3 for a 12 oz Stella Artois. I imagine that Bud and Bud Lite were about $2 a bottle.

People hav ebeen bringing in thier own there since we have been having the TFCTFN there, and this is the first year it was a problem. So next year we don't do that.

I would be careful about what anyone does about the $50.00 charge. I am wondering if the Fire Dept. could jump in on this one and charge you guys as well.

the fire department can not charge the group but they can charge the person or persons involved. or if it was in a room they can charge the renter of said room

also there is nothing listed in there terms and conditions on the website about the charge, unless the person that set this up was informed of the charge they can not legally charge everyone.

So if I understand what you are saying, you want the hotel to state in writing that "if you have a fire extinguisher fight you are going to pay fire said fire extinguisher".:smash::fury:

Would you prefer that they file a criminal complaint for malicious destruction of property over $250, which is a felony, instead of just assessing clean-up costs? Believe me, they would have every right to.

IMO the culprits here are getting off way too easy. $50 while hanging everyone else in the group out to dry?

Most people outgrow this type of behavior after their sophomore year of college.
