Dude,

I know these are your first couple posts, but you are starting out in these forums on somewhat of the wrong foot. Spots are not something that people around here give out regularly. In fact, most people will mention a broad area rather than a specific spot as they feel that spots are something learned on one's own.

That being said, people here couldn't be more helpful in regards to the tackle, lures, techniques, and overall philosophy of Striper fishing. Just try and answer spot specific questions yourself.

Anyway...welcome.

Chunkin is a excellent way ta get started. I mostly chunk pogies before mack's. Because pogies are oilier, they give off more scent. I notice alot of the canal crowd useing macks. Chunkin is a killer BIG fish bait so if your rod isn't in your hand be sure that your bait alarm is on or your drag is open on a spinning reel.

There are many spots you will incounter other fisherman....your opportunity to ask questions and see first hand at how its done. I've had most succes chunkin and eelin at night so hitting your intended areas during the day is a must. Always have some type of blue/bass lure.........BlitZ Happens! Hey, I like that......:gf:

locdog, i have been to the hull before. it's okay. a person once told me that it has flounders. beware of the rocky shore. i caught a skate there. there is a Hull BT store. the owner is nice. she will help you out. you can start the back river. it's the most productive spot.
clams are also good way to begin with.

Hull
either side right now you could pick up some cod. i like the side facing peddocks, but if the wind is bad you may have to go to the other side. yeah theres lots a skates too. sea worms and clams for bait . heavy weights to keep bottom, 4s or 5s. its deep inside the channel, 52 ft i think so you do need the weight and distance to get to the channel. what ever rig you like, use. make sure you put on some smaller hooks, you might be able to pick up some flounder that way too. the cod will be there to mid may and maybe longer this year .

Rocks = Bass. That's why from Delaware down they're not called Stripers - they're called ROCKfish

I always found that kinda ironic as there are no rocks south of Jersey! Rock On!
