Raven 03-21-2011, 05:16 PM it'll never stand up to the wind even though you could re-use it just my 02 cents striperman36 03-21-2011, 05:46 PM there was a prior thread on this some people do it. if maintained . Others just get the custom cover and be done with it. the custom cover costs about 2 years shrinkwrap parts and labor. Rip Runner 03-21-2011, 07:36 PM Mike, If my wife keeps driving my truck, you will have plenty of money for shrink wrap. I gotta get to the shop soon for an estimate. Oh, and thanks for hooking my sister up on her Tahoe a little while back! I have been ordering my shrinkwrap online and having it delivered to the house. It's been much cheaper than buying retail. I'll get you the name of the place I use. blaruffa 03-21-2011, 08:08 PM I save mine from the other year and reused it this winter. No Issues, if you take if off carefully it is fine. I am planning on using it again this winter. taJon 03-22-2011, 06:21 AM I reuse. It works just fine. you can even hit it with the heat again but very sparingly. InTheHole 03-22-2011, 06:53 AM I reuse mine, just be careful taking it off and make sure it's dry before you roll it up to store it. Mr. Sandman 03-28-2011, 08:48 AM I use to hate tossing all that materail out and asked a fellow who does it is there a way I can get more use out of it. He said he gets 4-5 years out of the stuff on his boat and he showed me how he does it. I now get 3-4 years out of it. But I set it up so it can be re-used easily. There are different mil thickness of the stuff and I prefer the slightly thicker material. I use a removable nylon web belt band around the hull and have a frame that allows for simple re-use. It is not as pretty as compared to shrinking it tight to the keel but I have no problem getting more than one season out of it. I roll it up and stuff in in the loft of the shed for the summer. I have a friend who has gotten 6 years out of it and he uses it year 'round, he trailers and when he brings it home he cleans it up and slips the old shrink wrap on to keep all the tree crap off the boat. You will need a roll of that wide white shrink wrap tape to patch it as needed but, I was able to shrink wrap my boat for <200 in materials, ( I think it was ~150 actually) and if I can get 3 years out if it that will be great. One time after 3 years, some insects landed on the white cover and birds pecked the hell out of it and shredded the material. Other than that one event it tends to last for years if you take the time to set it up so it can be removed with cutting it. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
