Ummm, this is a diplomatic trip you know. Considering how much time and money even my company is spending in South America, you'd think perhaps there's a good reason to be south of the equator. Every Billion we export translates into 5000 US jobs.

he..and you...should just stick to refering to them as vacations, his "diplomatic missions" are usually disasterous, he doesn't need anymore of those on his record as he's trying to get reelected...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- OK, so it wasn't health care, climate change or war. Still, President Barack Obama's high-profile failure to win the Olympics for Chicago could feed negative narratives already nipping at his heels -- that he's a better talker than closer, more celebrity than statesman.

And this could hamper his efforts on the weightier issues.

Despite Obama's fabled charm and powers of persuasion, his in-person plea for Chicago to host the 2016 Summer Games fell flat. It was a hugely embarrassing defeat. His adopted hometown -- considered a front-runner heading into Friday's voting -- didn't just lose, it took last place, shocking nearly all by getting knocked out in the first round while the remaining three contenders moved on.

Always best to be outa town when Congress may have questions.

just got done reading a recount of a lengthy speech Biden gave regarding presidential powers as well as an interview with Obama on much the same subject, apparently things have really changed since those two were throwing bombs of criticism rather than having to actually make the decisions

“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation,” Obama responded.

“As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States,” Obama continued. “In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch.” O'Bomber

his announcement contained lot's of.... I.....I....I'm...I....I.I.I.I.I's....didn't see any mention of congress

but it's not at all like O'Bomber to lecture others and then exclude himself from his own pronouncements at a later date...is it?

Biden-Citing Federalist No. 69, Biden noted that Alexander Hamilton, who among the Framers was perhaps the greatest champion of a strong executive, argued that the Constitution gave the president the authority to direct the military in action only after that action was authorized by Congress.

“Even Alexander Hamilton, a staunch advocate of Presidential power, emphasized that the President’s power as Commander in Chief would be ‘much inferior’ to the British King, amounting to ‘nothing more than the supreme command and direction of the military and naval forces,’ while that of the British King ‘extends to declaring of war and to the raising and regulating of fleets and armies–all which, by [the U.S.] Constitution, would appertain to the legislature,’” said Biden.

“Given this,” Biden concluded, “the only logical conclusion is that the framers intended to grant to Congress the power to initiate all hostilities, even limited wars.”

Business exports are governed by trade agreements and relations between countries. It's pretty common for US Presidents to be seen abroad working to ensure alignment with American business interests.

As for "show me one job" that doesn't make a lot of sense.

Why can't people just accept that every friggin president takes these trips. These conversations are so ridiculous. Presidents travel. Presidents play golf and fish. Presidents vacation.

"President Bush was the most travelled president in history, beating the record set by President Clinton, who in turn beat the record set by President George H. W. Bush. "

Vacation
Of the recent Presidents (going back to Carter), in their first year in office (not including Camp David):
Carter spent 19 days on vacation (1.6 days per month)
Reagan spent 42 days on vacation (3.5 days per month)
Bush Sr. spent 40 days on vacation (3.3 days per month)
Clinton spent 21 days on vacation (1.8 days per month)
Bush Jr. spent 77 days on vacation (6.4 days per month)
Obama spent 26 days on vacation (2.2 days per month)

It thinks it's pretty well known that Bush and Reagan took a lot of vacation. Obama's numbers might be skewed as he's still in office, but I don't think he's close to Bush.

That being said, considering a President is on call 24/7 I'm not sure how much time off they really can count.

Obama certainly has traveled a lot more than other Presidents, especially international travel his first year. Some of this may be his personal style but I think a lot of it is a reflection of the times.

Not really sure what about them you don't believe? Here's some more info. President Obama’s Vacation Days | FactCheck.org (http://factcheck.org/2010/01/president-obamas-vacation-days/)

Do you think Bush 2's numbers should be higher? They are if Camp David is included, but I think it is reasonable to exclude Camp David as the list I posted did. Do a search. As always, truth is often different than perception. Hard to evaluate how hard or how much a president is working when we have no idea what any particular day, week, or month looks like. I have no problem with people having real issues with a particular president, but the vacation/recreation discussion holds no water when it is fairly compared to all presidents.
