BigBassKing 03-21-2011, 08:16 PM sorry to keep bothering everyone with questions but any ideas on how to make hangers for swimmers, needles and poppers. thank you all stripermaineiac 03-21-2011, 09:34 PM Are you talking about hook hangers or hangers to hold the plugs while you work on them? BigBassKing 03-22-2011, 05:51 AM Hook hangers Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device numbskull 03-22-2011, 05:58 AM You an eel fisherman by any chance? It seems very, very basic....so basic it is easy to imagine you have not seen a saltwater plug. Presumably you have, so most likely you are aware that 90 % of plugs use a belly hole, grommet, through wire, and swivel. Another 5% use screw eyes. That leaves the remaining 5% that use sealed wires or wire hangers. I'll assume that is what you are asking about. Plugs using a through wire with wire hangers connect the hook with a piece of wire that is bent into an elongated U and then the top end of each limb of the U is bent back down like a hook to hang over the wire. The hole is then usually filled with Plumbers epoxy. A neat alternate way to do it is Frech's system (and old LI plugbuilder). Drill a 1/4 " hole about 1/2 " deep, put a medium sized brass sinker eye in it, and fill with 2-ton epoxy. BigBassKing 03-22-2011, 06:24 AM What's a sinker eye, and won't saltwater effect brass. Also I read about people using .045 welding wire, I for one can't find it anywhere and I've ordered so much stuff online that I'm acually tired of ordering LOL Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device numbskull 03-22-2011, 06:48 AM Try a welding supply shop and ask for TIG 308L wire Brass is fine in saltwater. Hilts Molds Brass Sinker Eyes & Downrigger Hardware (http://www.hiltsmolds.com/BrassSinkerEyesDownriggerHardware.htm) there is a picture under the title you want the middle size. loads of places sell these. You might find the search function both here and at google helpful. :uhuh: BigBassKing 03-22-2011, 07:02 AM Cool thanks a lot, also heard ss safety wire or lock wire and put a wall hook in a drill, make your loop, put loop on hook, then use pair of vise grips on unlooped end. I'll post pics of finished product later tonight. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
