Anybody but John and I buy a belt from the belt guy? He had nice , solid leather belts maybe 1 to 1 1/4 inch wide. He had some all tooled with outdoor sports things like stripers or waterfowl , etc. He also had matching theme buckles.
I got a plain solid black belt for use with dress pants or a suit. Nice thick but not too wide leather so it would go through the belt loops on dress pants.
Guy held up a few of the solid black I wanted then wrapped them around my waste and decided on one a little longer than needed. He then used a special tool to cut it to length with a double tapered end. He then used a punch and hammer to put the buckle holes in it. Added a small leather loop after the buckle for the tail end after you buckle it.
This all took maybe 2 minutes and 10 dollars later I was out of there with essentially a custom made solid leather black belt for wearing when dressed up. I had no idea what the belt alone would cost so I was pleasantly surprised when he asked for $10.
Anybody know his name or company?

I hope these guys and others we mentioned made out financially and return next year , etc.
If I wasn't in a hurry to be elsewhere by 3 PM , I might have spent more time and money with the leather guy. I bet he had some nice wallets too as that's a natural companion to leather belts. Did he have wallets?

David G (Sign of Life Leather) is one of the oldest continuing vendors we have at the MSBA EXPO. A couple times since 2000 he had to cancel but each time he paid for his booth.
Some of the old timers might remember "Newport Lures" or the rubber shad guy. Both of these companies used to do the shows together. Unfortunately the guy from "Newport Lures" passed away a few years ago.
I have a 1950's era MSBA Belt buckle on one of his Striped Bass Belts!!!!!

That's funny because now I know where I got my leather bass key chain years ago - I had forgotten :rotf2:

Next year I'll look to see if he has wallets.
I have one of his wallets. They made a killing a few years ago at rissa and every time I looked over his booth was full. He's a real nice guy. Glad to see him back at Msba expo this year.

I bought a Tuna Belt and a couple of key chains from him a couple of years ago. He even threw an extra buckle. Great deal.
