Nice videos, i say Montauk someday but not sure when or if it will happen. There is something about fishing among tons of people that makes we want to vomit.

I have to agree with you on fishing with people on both sides of you... I really enjoy the solitude of fishing with a 1 or 2 friends or by yourself esp at 1st light

Montauk is not just the mob at the light. there are long stretches to the north that extend to and past Shagwong. I like to fish the areas maybe 300 or 400 yards from the light. Also , if you read DJ Mullers Striper Tales , I have some experiences on the other side of the light at Turtle Cove. Its a big area if you consider the shores that extend west both north and south of the lightand even the shore along hither Hills. It is a great place for fall fishing. I generally went over the Thanksgiving weekend and way back when fish were hard to find and 36 was the limit , I always managed to get a few at Montauk.

Having lived there briefly, and fished it, it's crazy.

You think the canal is bad on memorial day weekend? Try montauk!

The light house is the "go to" spot, but like saltheart stated you have miles and miles of beach.

The fishing can be great, just like every where else.

I think people have this misconception that their going to montauk and just catch cows one after another.

It's like everywhere else, some days good, some days bad.

If you never been it's worth a trip, small town, expensive, not much to do if you don't fish or surf.

An some of the best pancakes you'll ever have at johnnys, could just be the hunger from pulling all nighters in the surf.

The locals are a unique breed.

Lol, "not much to do if you don't fish or surf".... go to cuttyhunk.... at least you can drink in Montauk! haha

But seriously, the crowds everyone always speaks of are mostly during the fall, during the day or the "nicer" weekends in june. You can find some real estate to fish all on your own as long as your willing to walk. Ha, there have been times i've been fishing there for an hour thinking it was just me and my brother on our rocks, only to find out when the fish come through, thats theres guys on either side of us within 20 yards or so. haha the ol' headlamp giving them away.
