Hopefully I actually use it and get used to it...otherwise I'm packing it full of dog crap and burning on Fishbones front door step. Already have the dog crap ready to go. -spence BigFish 04-16-2011, 10:57 AM Mine are in the back of my pickup....I can't hear them at all??? I think its the wind whistling through your ears when you hang your head out the window Eddie!:jump1::rotf2: Tagger 04-16-2011, 05:30 PM No Larry ,, I had the window up :uhuh:.. I drove a bud to M&D's today and he said "What's that noise ?" I was only going 40 at the time . It's a lower pitch roar noise . Kind of a bummer .. 2010 explorer .. First time I've ever owned a vehicle that everything wasn't rattling . The cross bars are round .. Can't be that . The risers that clamp to the factory rails are hollow .. Sealed with covers on the outside but may be open inside .. I'll investigate . They look nice .. may be in need of duct tape .. :wall: Tagger 04-16-2011, 05:40 PM I went to thier website to express my dissapointment and to my shagrin learned all I have to do is buy something eles .. For what I'm spending on these racks I could have bought another kayak .. Well I'm in deep now .. saving more sock money for yakima .. Shortly after I purchased this fairing. before at 40 mph it started to whistle and produce awful noise. After I got the fairing I have been up to highway speed and I can't even tell it's on there. It has done way more than I expected it to do. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend (1 of 1 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Keep your calendar open for an afternoon/evening during the weeks of May 15th or the 22nd. :fishin: JFigliuolo 05-20-2011, 01:42 PM Sorry about the late reply... OK WICKED LATE! Anywho, if you take a bungee cord and take 3-4 turns around the load bars and secure it on both ends, wind noise is all but eliminated. Cost me $1.50 Nebe 05-20-2011, 03:12 PM I have the flaring on my odyssey.. zero noise. I drove a full tanks worth of gas in my van last week with my hobie on the rack and saw very little difference if none at all in MPG.. Rockport24 05-20-2011, 04:02 PM Yeah the fairing is the way to go if it bothers you. I only have the cross bars (put the yak directly on them) and the noise ain't bad at all. I do remember when I used to have my bike rack or ski racks on it would howl like a lone wolf! Tagger 05-22-2011, 06:23 AM So many places to throw money this time of year .. Everything with Yakima is seperate .. even the little locks that go in the towers was another 50 .. The noise sux .. The $70 for the piece of plastic is down on the list . someday .. Rockport24 05-24-2011, 12:22 PM totally, yakima and thule basically have a duopoly on this market. REI has 20% off sales a few times a year, I think there is one going on right now for mem day. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
