Just did a system backup using the Win 7 auto backup utility. Did it on my newest USB 2 drive and it took 26 minutes. Then after installing the USB 3 card and new USB 3 docking station backed it up to the drive on the USB 3 connection. 8 minutes and 30 seconds. 26 min vs 8.5 min , that's a big difference.
Took me all this time to get the USB 3 card functional because a needed power adapter for SATA power to old Molex 4 pin power had to be ordered after I got the USB card with the old power connector.
Molex 4 pin is the old standard hard drive power connector but why it would be used on a new PCIe card instead of an SATA power connector is beyond me but it took a week to get the $2 adapter.
So now my new toy (new computer) is all done , nothing to do but use it for the next 8 years (I hope) :)
