Thumper 04-18-2011, 07:53 AM Cool story, I used to skip school all the time to go fish. During the week the popular spots I knew were dead and the weekend warriors were either sleeping or already at work. Now I skip work to fish, funny how some things never change... Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device DZ 04-18-2011, 08:26 AM That's great. Similar story of mine: I graduated High School in 1974 - my homeroom teacher was Mr. Burns who was also an avid surf fisherman. By then I had the reputation as the a crazy kid who always chased striped bass using his 10 speed bike as transportation. Anyway the action was good the last week of May that year as the bass were on a predawn bite on the abundant local squid population. I was a good student and had my grades wrapped up by then so I asked my mother if I could skip a few days of school to make a few more bucks selling bass. She said fine. Later that week I show up in homeroom and Mr Burns looks at me, smiles, and asks me in front of all my classmates how the fishing was the last two days. Caught me completely by surprise - being the honest kid I was I told him the bite was good using yellow Rebel Superminnows on the Cliff Walk.
