For me in early season i like soft baits, and color choice is pink bubble gum, again that works for where i fish...anything I can help you with I will.... At or near outflows is a good place to start Raven 04-26-2011, 11:07 AM Tackle Stores (http://users.nac.net/chasstamm/hrfanjorg/tackle.htm) JoeBass 04-26-2011, 12:19 PM My 2 cents? To start, so you build confidence, use bait. I'd use a fish finding rig (any tackle shop can show you) a circle hook, a weight between 1/2 oz. and 2 oz. depending on current and mackerel or herring cut into 2 inch chunks. Nice, simple, effective. Later you can move onto plugs or flies or whatever. flyvice11787 04-26-2011, 02:55 PM Flyingstriper12, you might want to add some information in order to get some useful advice. The Hudson River is a big place. You could be talking about fishing somewhere near Manhattan or for all we know, up by Troy Dam somewhere. Also, do you and your dad fish by boat or from shore?
