This morning my yard had so many dandelions in it that you'd think it was the yellow brick road. Wife said I had to get some dandelion killer....Well I got even better.
I got 2 wood chucks that are s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& em down like they were kids eatin M&M's.........They will hopefully have the whole yard done soon.......
I guess they are a somewhat useful rodent. And just to think i almost sniped them last week........

They are only eating the flowers (likely) so you will have MORE! Get some weed-be-gone.

This must be a good crop season for them, I've never seen so many

Buy the concentrated stuff, not the ready to use! Make up about 2X recommended dosage.

My dad battled them with the pea plants growin up. He couldn't shoot it. My neighbor couldn't shoot it (and he was a cop).
I got it with a field hockey stick.
My old man was proud.

something real simple & natural , cheap too

i think its cornmeal gluten :uhuh:

they cannot grow where its spread
read it in mother earth last year

http://www.grinningplanet.com/2006/03-16/dandelion-removal-article.htm

what i do tho is to pop all the tops first
all the yellow flowers go in a bucket
cuz seeds are REAL soon to follow

then i take a regular shovel spade and slide
it in next to the biggest ones first,,,,
and semi lift it to loosen the soil a bit
so you can yank out the hole root
then ya step on the spot re seating the soil

of course if your inundated with them and striped bass
are about to explode on yer plug...soon

poison the crap out of them and go fishin

Pick 'em and eat 'em. Seriously. delicious in salad or lightly sauteed in olive oil and garlic over pasta.

We used to go out when I was young and pick them in the spring. My grandmother would cook them that night.

the HOZON water syphon (aint so cheap)

anyways...
ya fill up a 5 gallon bucket with super thrive vitamin b1 mix
root stimulant at a rate of one only drop per gallon
(one bottle- it goes a long way) increases root growth X 100

then spike it with some sea weed extract or maybe some miracle grow

set up the sprinkler and fertilize with ease

here's the link so you'll get the idea
Fertilizer Injectors, Siphon Mixers and Hose End Sprayers at Home Harvest Garden Supply (http://homeharvest.com/waterfertilizerinjectors.htm)

PS, you can use some cleats to make the lawn holes for seed
prior to you watering regiment

always plant seed during the last week before the full moon
and /or preferably during a long rainy spell

I fenced my pumpkins in like they are inside a firtress. Also collect and spread my dogs poop inside and outside fence so the chucks think there is something bigger than them living inside.

Weed-B-Gone does take care of them. May take 7 or 8 days until the plant craps out though. Some plants are tougher than others. Crab Grass takes 3 to 5 days, and so on.

they make a dandelion picker, it looks like a long screwdriver w/ a fork on the end so you get down to the bottom of the root. Good idea to cut the tops and put in a bucket cause of the seeds, and dont shake the roots either cause theres seeds already in the soil, put down a little pre-emergence after you pluck em, I think thats what the corn gluten is.

what part do you cook, the tops or the greens? I'll try anything :stir:

keeping dandelions out of your yard is like trying to keep flies off sh*t.
They come from everywhere else. The seeds get blown into your yard from someone else's, and unless you want to patrol the neighborhood looking for them, it's just a matter of keeping them in check.

As for groundhogs, they would rather eat native plants like dandelions and clover. They LOVE clover.

Unless you actually see them in your garden, you may be blaming the wrong varmint. We had squirrels that would raid our tomatoes, peppers and strawberries.

first i'll buy some BEER .......... allot of BEER
then i'll grab the shovel and the dingo
and together we'll go dig him out....

i'll skin him and cook him right on the spot for the dog
and then when i say the word "wood chuck" her eyes will light up
