Thinking of a 3-4 days down BSC camping with son & bride - where would you recommend sites for tent camping?

PMs are OK too :hee:

I always like Myles Standish state forest, cheap and close to the cape but without the crowds, lots of great ponds for swimming in and fishing is pretty good too. Great bike paved bike trails thru the whole park.

peters pond is nice too, more expensive but tent sites with water and eletric hook ups.

I do Shamee Crowell a lot every year. Close to the water. Not so nice for a family though. Not a whole lot to do.

BSP is great, I'd try to get a spot close to the bourne bridge easier access to the service road

Any areas at Bourne Scenic more family friendly?

John the G area at BSP has a few playgrounds and is close to the service road. The P and PX areas are near the pools, basketball courts and right next to the service road. Probably have to check on there website I think alot of the best sites are reserved for seasonal guests

John,

If you're talking about BSP, most of the tent sites are in the same general area. A-31 through A-34 are up high so no real worries about rain flooding you out. We used to do A-33 a lot before we got the seasonal.

Stay away from A-24 - a-28. Those are real low sites and in a deep gully.

You just want a tent site or are you going to be looking for utilities?

Check their site. They have the maps there. Area A and D are the tent sites. Most of the rest of the tent sites are close but not too bad. The place gets rocking in the summer but not too bad.

No wood in or out. If you have a fire, you'll need to pay $5 for 5 pieces of wrapped wood.

We used to do Shawmee Crowell a lot. Real reasonable and the sites are quite nice. Bathrooms a bit "old" but the sites were wooded and the staff is real nice. No utilities on sites, though.

John BSC is a very clean place, last year they installed two new fiberglass pools there side by side, they also keep there bath rooms top notch.
As for location we have camped by the pools and close to the middle of the camp ground. It's a long spread out place I would recommend close to the office, there your son won't have too travel far for bath room, pool, store and video game room:grins:
It's a nice safe place.

Last weekend we just booked BVCG from Mothers day to Fathers day so bring on the :fishin:
We (I )wanted to go there but I can't get full hook ups or cable for that length of time:wall:

Payne's in Welfleet caters to renters and is very close to town beaches. They close the gate after two AM though

There are two decent campgrounds in Falmouth. Cape Cod Campground on Thomas Landers Rd. and Sippewissett Campground on Palmer Ave.

Hi John. I stayed there last September, in a tent on the bridge end. I am deaf as a stone and I couldn't sleep with the sound on the cars going over the bridge. So fish all night and sleep when you get home.

A-10 ...
Why don't you show up for Troll Fest at Shawme Crowell too . June 3,4,5th ... We have a group site .. Shawme Crowell is more woodsy camping , state park = no booze .. Bourne Scenic Park allows booze ,, believe they have video games for kiddy's too .. right on the canal so all you need is your bike ..

I am surprised no one mentioned Scussett Beach State Campground. There are tent sites over along near the Service Road alongside The Ditch. For regular sites there is 30 Amp and water and a dump station open mornings.

Have fun!!!!!

I stay at Scusset a lot. Have a RV but have done the tent sites as well. Problem is its next to impossible to get in unless you make reservations 6 months in advance. And there's only 5 tent sites. Tents aren't allowed on the RV sites by themselves. You can throw one up in addition to a RV.

Nickerson St Park - connects with cape cod bike trail and plenty of ponds to fish.
