Quake shifted Japan; towns now flood at high tide - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110509/ap_on_re_as/as_japan_earthquake_changing_terrain)

The link above has the details. Moved south by 17 feet and sank 4 feet into the ocean. Incredible displacement of the land mass and apparently the big tectonic plates are no sliding differently relative to eachother.

Was reading a story about 1 town that, because of the shift, now floods twice a day during high tide. Knee deep water

@ high tide flooding now :confused:

just to think of that in terms
of our own shores
is mind boggling

The mass of just japan is huge but apparently one tectonic plate (huge ginormous mega big) was elevated 13 feet? Hard to get your head around something so big.
