There is a beautiful Cardinal just outside my rear sliding glass door. It just like 6 feet away and poking aound at the grass. It must not be able to see me do to the reflection of the glass. A real treat!
Its actually kind of orangy rather than the normal deep red. Is that a female maybe or a time of year thing?

Salt We have quite a few hanging around the back yard.
They swoop down out of the evergreen to feed on theground more so than the feeder.
I think the female is not as dark as the male.
We have been feeding them cracked corn
the females are more of a "brownish" color than red like the males.
keep a watch on them....its ever cooler when you catch the male feeding the female.

many times they are the very last bird at the feeder
before nightfall
they prefer feeding off the ground the most
a 1/2 piece of plywood that sits on top of
a burn barrel is their favorite feeding station
