Hey everyone winter flounder season opens sat in RI. Maybe this will help us kick the season off with some fish.

With the water temps where they are I wouldn't get my hopes up too high.

Of course, that was further North, but things don't look good, cause at least a few should have been around......unless there are just no flounder left, in which case, things REALLY don't look good.....:rolleyes: :(


Sorry, I just realized that post doesn't say much of anything.....which, actually, is accurate, cause that's what I found....

I chummed up real good with home made fish chum, cat food, and another chum line of corn. Had all the secrets/hints covered.....pink sinkers, mussels, clam lips, and night crawlers as bait (no getting seaworms yet...:(), pounding the bottom, shallower water, etc. Hit the last of the incoming, and two hours into the outgoing.....not a touch, other than the three small green crabs I got. Even thought of putting them on for tog bait, but if there were no flounder around, then the chances of tog were equally as dismal, so they just got kicked back off the bridge....

Only suggestion I could give you is to hit the last two hours of the PM outgoing instead of the first two hours, and stay in shallow water, maybe 2-3-4 feet at most......I couldn't stay that late to hit that part of the tide, but perhaps that may have been the secret......

I understand that they are starting to catch them in NJ and western long island, so there are still some fish around :D Probably won't be until May before we see a decent bite around here.
