Decided to get a regular Dual Layer Blu Ray Burner instead of waiting for the XL burner to come down in price. i found out the Blu Ray XL discs will be $100 for one!! That's rediculous so i guess i'll settle for 50 Gb for $1 instead of 125 Gb for $100 :). Is that nuts or what?
Anyway , drove myself crazy tring to get the new LG to play a Blu Ray. Got new firmware and ran it, got new drivers for my video and MB Chip set, tried 3 different software packages , killed about 12 hours and in the end i went down in defeat. :( I eventually norrowed it down to needing a better video card. My video is just built into the mother board. Double checked with the Dell TS and they confirmed my video card will not do Blu Ray. My real need was to burn Blu Rays since I do have a player hooked to the TV. The burner part of this LG works fine. I just need more umph for a video card to play the Blu Ray HD whatever you call it! I guess I'll start bird dogging an NVidia 1 gig or something similar. If you have patience with these things you can usually save half the cost vs needing it right away.
