denis 04-17-2003, 06:02 PM I am having a problem with interference cumming through my radio from the fishfinder,Pulsating noise. Here is what I did so far.
separated the power source
wrapped the tranducer wire in foil
wrapped the antenna wire in foil
still have a pulsating noise when the fish finder is turned on anyone have any ideas?
thanks
Clammer 04-17-2003, 08:42 PM Did you change anything from last season ??????????
JohnR 04-17-2003, 08:47 PM Make a foil hat - stops the NSA from listening in to your brain waves. At least that's what one Architect intern at our shop thought. He also pysically removed the power cord from his PC at night so nobody would check his hard drive at night - the regular network cable wasn't secure enough with the power turned off :rollem:
denis 04-17-2003, 09:41 PM No Mike same as last year that is why I could'n use the radio and depth finder at the same time.
Clammer 04-17-2003, 11:06 PM sometimes a filter helps, or moving them further apart//////////

Does the problem still happen if you disconnect the vhf antenna?
I have the same problem, I end up shutting off the FF when using the radio alot.
I would like to know if there is a fix.
We used to put coils on the power feed on our old cars radios to eliminte engine noise coming through, but not sure if its feasible here.
Mr. Sandman 04-18-2003, 09:15 AM I think you need to enclose (shield) your FF.
denis 04-18-2003, 10:50 AM #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&--don't know will see today?
mr sandman-that is what the teck at bottomline said to try.
Mike the console is too small, have to watch the compass, heading up river will be there most of the day.
thanks for the input will try all,John I'm making a hat for the radio today.
denis 04-18-2003, 11:16 AM #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&-disconected antena no pulsation, now what?
John tryed the hat didn't work.

UserRemoved1 04-18-2003, 12:45 PM Well you got a few options then, what this says is that it is an Radio Frequency signal that is being emitted and the vhf is picking it up much like a regular radio signal. If it stayed when you disconnected the antenna then it would mean that the noise was coming in the power line which it's not.
1. Try moving the antenna away from the FF itself, it may be close to it.
2. Disassemble the Fishfinder and spray the inside of the plastic case with EMI paint-this is a conductive paint meant to be a "spray shield" for emi problems such as this.
3. Junk the fishfinder because it's not meeting FCC part 15 rules & regulations which it must do for a consumer product....it is not supposed to generate this crud at all. But good luck going after the manufacturer.....they could care less.
If you can't find the spray paint I have some here, so if you want to take it all apart and bring it up here I can spray it for you, dries almost on contact.

will try moving the antenna, the unit is sealed cannot open it.
thanks
UserRemoved1 04-18-2003, 06:29 PM NOTHING is sealed
