Anyone make your challenge yet?? I'm doing a Nike Jr. for pbadad and Chefchris will be making a large Masterlure Rocket for me. So what is everyone else doing?

I'm doing a wonderbread Goo Goo Eye for Rayndogg. Should be fun.

Don't know what I'm building yet...gotta PM ChefChris. Seed420 is making me a nice, big handcarved diving swimmer in a mullet pattern...its gonna slay them in the fall. :-)

And i am doing a Danny for Stripercrazy which i just finished priming.

I am building a small white darter for The Greek and Striper Crazy is building me a Weasel in yellow Flash.

I'm building a Surfster (not sure in what pattern yet) for Seed420 and pbadad is building me a super slim in schoolbus pattern :drool:

Im working on a masterlure rocket 8" for sgt striper. Its a cool shaped plug, might need to add some belly weight and maybe a small tail weight, originals had none from what I can tell from the one I picked up, most of the belly paint is missing, and shows no signs of weight.

Should be a fun swap/challenge.

Plan on turning a few extra bodies to use as reference if any body wants one for future turning.

Chris, Try a tail weight only first, I'd do a .25x1.00", maybe even slide it up to the back of the 1st hook!

I made a few darters and tested them all with good results... now on to the final one for the Greek.... they caught plenty of fish at Cutty a few weeks back

MS, Looking for roughly 2.75-3.0. I think the one I lost was 3 ozs so around there.

And the handcarve swimmer for Chunkah is all carved and sealed just waiting for the primer to dry and then I can start laying color.

i got stripercrazys plug ready, but sent airbrushe to local art store in May went there today to see if it was back(been gone too long) and he tells me there was a mix up and i should see it back hopefully next week:smash:

Here is an update on Seed420's surfster
I used some creative latitude :uhuh: on the requested color scheme. Seed420, let me know what you think, I have another blank I can gusssy up if you're not completely satisfied.
~ 7.5", just over 3oz. Neon green back (self mix), yellow sides, pearl white belly, silver scales, and then interference gold eye highlight, and orange pearl breast plate. Eyes are hand painted as well. Tail is a Stevel special.
My first challenge, needs final testing, blank swam well.

Not the best time of year for doing epoxy! Will be an issue for everyone.

Great job Billy, I hope my paint comes out as good as yours!! Should have yours done and out in the mail by the end of the week!! Marathon paint session this weekend, 24 plugs to do!!

We will start the auction on Monday 9/19. I will put up the post which JohnR will stickie on the top of the main forum. Each builder will add his plug photo with a description. Auction will run for 14 days.

Ok, here they are. Mahogany, 7", 3.5 oz, stainless steel screw eyes, 3x VMC trebles. I work them like a spook and the flaptail really causes quite a bit of commotion. I first tried it unweighted, but decided to throw in a belly weight to help the action. This was a really enjoyable build as it forced me to stray out of my comfort zone. Hopefully you all like them and ChefChris catches with it. I have an extra for the upcoming auction of course.

Wow... I got the mail today and was pleasantly surprised with a small box containing a beautiful 7.5" Weasel plug in yellow Flash. Sweet looking reproduction of a rare plug.

Then to my surprise in the box were 3 additional painted/clearcoated plug bodies: 2 very nice spooks and a Cutty style popper.

Stripercrazy has been very busy at work so he was slightly delayed in finishing but now I look forward to trying these beauts out ... probably next spring.
