Gustav Edward "Ed" Olsson, age 74, passed away suddenly on June 2, 2011. He was the beloved husband of nearly 53 years of Adele J. (Mills-Price) Olsson. Ed is survived by his two sons, John Olsson of Lake Oswego, Oregon and James Olsson and his wife Renee of Larchmont and Southampton, NY and three grandsons, Andrew, Carden and Walker. He also leaves his devoted sister Elsa Anderson and her husband Victor of Quincy and several cousins nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his brother John O. Olsson. He served in the U.S. Navy in VR6 and Fasron 107. After the Navy, he attended East Coast Aero Tech. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines for 24 years. His most recent career before retirement was with R. J. Hadge Appraisers. Ed was an avid fisherman, his prize was the 60 pound striper mounted on the wall. He was a long time member of Massachusetts Bass Association and most recently the Holbrook Sportsman's Club. He also was an Assistant Herring Warden for the Town of Weymouth. Ed was born in Quincy,a son of the late Gustav A. and Agnes Olsson, graduated from Quincy High School in the class of 1954 and had lived in South Weymouth for 45 years. Relatives and friends are invited to the visiting hours at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St., (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Monday, June 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. and the funeral at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 7 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Weymouth Church of the Nazarene Vision Fund, 385 Ralph Talbot St., S. Steve I know how well you knew Ed and for how long. Ed was a genuinely nice man, very kind and helpful....so friendly when I first joined MSBA! Ed's presence will be sorely missed. He along with Ed Thoms I called "The Ed's".......both great guys. I am saddened at this news and will miss "The Ed's" greatly.:(
