My printer wont print no more. Worked fine yesterday, last nite the storms came thru. It errors out trying to print now. Restarted power on the printer, replugged usb cable, nada.

Instantly errors out when I try to print.

Any ideas?

what kind of errors? did you have it behind a surge protector or ups?

The computer got shut down before the ups died, the display was shut off and the printer was left. Why would losing power to the printer make the shut down computer lose the ability to print to it's driver.

real wierd.

the print spooler is the issue, its in services, usually starting and stoping it may fix it, but probably now. un install the software, reboot make sure the print spooler is set to automatic in services.msc, then reinstall the software for the printer. make sure the printer is set to default inside the printer option in control panel. if that dont work its broke!

another issue is that sometimes printers stubbornly won't function until a print job is either completed or deleted ....out of memory

so go in and see if anything is still waiting to print

if this is xp

go to the command prompt (Click Start > Run > type: “cmd” without the quotes) and typed “NET STOP SPOOLER”

Then go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete the files

then restart the print spooler by typing “NET START SPOOLER” at the command prompt

reinstalled the driver completely and it's fine now. Still don't get why it would do this if the computer was off. Very messed up.

I've lost devices or apps without any lightning or any really likely cause. Sometime $hite happens!

Yea. We lost power again today, wife says was about 1/2 hour. Didn't have any issues today and computer was still running when I got home.

i am assuming its XP or vista, they have a tendency to corrupt printer drivers esp usb ones.
