I never realized how many frieking hummingbirds are around. 16 oz. of fluid go in four days. They are awesome to watch sitting on the deck.

We used to have tons of hummingbirds and finches. I would have to rake up the openes seed shell so they disn't choke out the grass below the feeders.

Bought a second 4 perch feeder to help accommodate these jewels.

you have noticed the territorial pursuits and chases

to see "other" hummingbirds:

you have to place a feeder on the opposite side
of the house that's completely out of view for
the head humming bird so that they can't patrol
both areas at once....which allows newbies to visit

I was in Eastport Maine a few weeks ago having my morning coffee and something went buzzing by my head, hit the window and landed on the hood of my buddys truck. Sure enough it was a hummimgbird! Just beautifull!. I put it in a place where it could recover. We had to leave so I hope it was ok!! Prettty amazing to hold a hummingbird in your hand! Amazing birds!!

You're right on with a dominant male patrolling the feeders. The 2nd feeder we put up can be seen along with the first from the right spot. The dominant male has found this spot and drives the rest crazy by patrolling them both.

Swimmer: Take Raven's advice and place the 2nd one completely out of view of first.

One of the only times I fished in one of my local spots this year I had a pair of yellow ones flying around me.I have seen green colored ones before but these were bright yellow.Is that a normal color for them ?

All colors of the spectrum have come our waY THIS YEAR. Black head, red under chin with white ring around neck and dark green back. The iredescent colors are awesome. Out west hiking in Colorado years ago we saw ones we have never seen anywhere else.

We have a pair of light green, dark green, gray ones..........

Drinkin me drink in 2 feeders in 2 days.
