View Full Version : Blue Angels in the House
QuonsetCaster 06-24-2011, 03:29 PM There is nothing like having the blue angels rip the back of your head off with those high speed low altitude rippers. Hope i can continue to fish after that. Still get goosebumps. The Angels are in Quonset boys.:fishin:
Sundowner 06-24-2011, 03:57 PM I hear ya, when those sob's or any of those hyper speed jets go by it leaves a chill on yer body, you see them go by you , then the volume of noise that trails them is does smack you in the back of the head AND you can feel it, very invigorating, gets you pumped up to the max IMO . It makes me think, you gotta be a dumbass to mess with the U.S. Glad them Angels are flying together again.
numbskull 06-24-2011, 06:01 PM 35, maybe 40 years ago, while plugging in the closed area behind Nomans we were a bit slow leaving the fish despite a Huey coptor hovering overhead waving us to get out of there. They pulled away, 3 dots on the horizon appeared coming from Quonset, grew quickly, two veered off and the third......well KAAAAAAAABBBBBOOOOOOOOOM a F111 streaked over us about 100 feet up with afterburners on (or so it seemed at the time). Talk about getting buzzed. It blotted out the sun, shook the entire boat, and turned us to jelly. We moved out of there fast, really fast. The guys in the copter must have had a good laugh.
TheSpecialist 06-24-2011, 10:02 PM Wifes cousin was second in charge at Quonsett before he passed away 5 years or so ago. He was in charge of the Airshow, and we had fun when we went. Met the Thunderbirds once and the Blue Angels another time in the briefing room.
blondterror 06-25-2011, 06:20 AM about 25 yrs ago we lived at a house in Lexington on the final approach to Hanscom Field... the airshow came every 4-5 ys and friday was always the practice day for the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels. The 1st time I saw/heard them they were doing a low high speed pass and I hit the dirt in my backyard because they were so loud and so low... always a very impressive experience to see them up close
RIROCKHOUND 06-25-2011, 07:01 AM Had the C3's come over me on the bar at MTK one night at 2am..... no sound till over you and LOW... I wonder if they had thermal on looking for fisherman to F-with, b/c they buzzed Redlite a few miles east of me a couple of minutes later.....
Rob Rockcrawler 06-25-2011, 11:03 AM I did get buzzed by 3 A-10 a few years back on East Beach, pretty cool, but getting buzzed my them means about 300 miles an hour i think. When i was a kid i got to see an SR-71 take off somewhere out west. It took off turned 180 degrees hit the throttle, BOOM and gone. Most impressive thing i have ever seen in my life. There are some really cool You tube videos of sonic booms.

Rob Rockcrawler 06-25-2011, 11:10 AM I would have a heart attack if something like that happened while standing on a rock.
RIJIMMY 06-25-2011, 12:25 PM dont remind me, we planned on going tomorrow (sunday) and my son went to the docs this am, strep throat.,.....looks like next year
