I was working for a company that had a dental plan that covered up to $1,500 in orthodontics. My daughter got her top braces put on March 19th of this year. I left my previous employer the last week of April. I contacted the dental insurer and was told that they would cover the $1,500 because the work was done while I was still employed there. The orthodontist submitted the claim in full and I received an invoice from the insurance company today and it said they are only paying $750. I called them and they said that is all they are paying since all of the work is not complete.
My question is, should the insurance company be obligated to pay the $1,500. Thanks.

My 2 cents based on more opinion than law: Nope!

The dental ins coverage plan ends with the date of your employment termination. So does the medical. Only responsible for work done to that date.

Good luck trying to get anything more. Might ask Fishbones, he is more knowledgable on HR than I.
