Not I , in the saltwater but I was asked for a freshwater license with two little kid's with me ,,,,,,, and yes I have both :uhuh:

Talked with Rangers on the national seashore while fishing and bumped into a EPO while at the canal earlier this year... never been asked for my license. I printed out a bunch and leave one in my truck and a copies in other random places yet there are still times I don't have it with me. I don't even bother worrying about it if I forget it.

I had Timmah laminate me one and grommet it. I keep it on my plug bag so I don't ever have to worry about having it. Also have one in my wallet in case I'm out on someones boat. I've seen many DEM/MEP officers and not one has asked. Maybe it's because they see it on my plug bag or maybe they just don't care. :smash:

I had an EPO boat pull along side (30ft away) we chatted and he asked if we all (3 of us) had the licenses: answered Yes. He said good day and road off.

Haven't been asked or even seen an officer at the spots I fish

My buddy wrote his license number on his rod near the specs with a paint pen, that way when your wetsuiting you'll have it.

I don't think you will be asked for a saltwater license if you are walking by epos.

Haven't been checked yet. I did see a RI EPO checking after i called in some poachers. Nice to see em show up after you make the call.

Seamule and I were asked one night while we both had fish on. The woman was very patient and nice about it. I made a few copies and keep one in each plug bag and a couple at home.

I got asked up in Newburyport a couple of weeks back, showed it to her and then chatted for a bit...no big deal

I was asked if I had one but not asked to show it. Glad to see them doing their job. (NOT)

I was asked for it during a routine Coast Gaurd inspection..
In all fairness, the hours I fish, most EPO's are sleeping.

Was with my son fishing the canal on his b-day and was asked. I GLADLY walked up the rocks to show the officer and thanked the officer for checking.

The primary objective of the saltwater license is to gather program a database of recreational fishermen to draw upon for survey purposes.
There should be a survey thread on this forum come December for each state to find how if the calls are placed and how many.
I can care less if they ask me for a license that is not important as much as the survey.
If there is no survey or little effort of one would you renew your license ?

I agree with you but we all know that the license has NOTHING to do with gathering information.

I was stopped by the clam cops and I offered to give him one of my fishies that I was dragging back with some one's lobster rope...:rotf2: funny bumping into him at 2 am... and yes he wanted to see my RI lic. It happen about a month ago

middle of may came out of the water whilst others stayed in an fished, talkedto the guy for awile and he finally asked me for it, had it on another plug bag, but he was ok with it cause I proved to be an upstanding citizen. upon further review he said they were just trying to keep an eye on the stock, I toldhim he needed to focus on the more popular areas where the ppl heed no regulations an beat to thier own drum. thankfully he believed me and went about his business

I have yet to be asked but they have been very actively asking just about everyone who is fishing off the State Fish Pier. They actually fined a whole bunch of guys $50 each who were fishing for mackerel but had no license. They are stationed right at the beginning of the pier so it is quite easy for them to drive/walk down and start asking.

Never,did get pulled over at Sampsons pond with the kids by the Carver police.my taxdollars at work.They have a nice CC to patrol a rocky mudhole..Kids though we were in trouble :)

I've been fishing a handful of popular spots since April, probably averaging 5-6 nights/week and 3-5 hours per. I have yet to see a single DEM officer.

No, wait, I take that back. A couple of months ago one almost caught me taking a leak. I thought I was busted until I realized that _he_ was taking a leak. I left quietly before things got any more uncomfortable.
