View Full Version : Stripers Bernzy 04-26-2003, 12:54 PM Just because I live in Indiana doesn't mean I don't fish for Stripers. Out here we fish for them year round. Here's a few from last week. Notaro 04-26-2003, 11:17 PM whoa, those are big fishes. they looked like hybrids to me since they came from the freshwater. i have seen some basses like yours in markets in chinatown, brenzy, but only in small size. those fishes in the markets in chinatown are either hybrids or sand basses. neverthless, they are beautiful fishes. congratulations, brenzy. which picture is you? on the boat or on the dock? They can't reproduce, and their bodies are naturally deeper than stripers of the same size. They always have broken stripes over a good length of their bodies, not just a break here and there. Those are real stripers that have been piggin' out on gizzard shad or whatever forage are in those Hoosier lakes. macojoe 04-27-2003, 11:40 PM WOW!!! I want me some of them. What about that second guy?:mad: ;) Didn't get them on wood this time, we were live lining Alewives. Plug time is almost here Nothing compares to the salt, but catching fish like that kinda helps me pass the time between saltwater trips :D They are pure bred Stripers not Hybrids, although we have both out here. Those fish were taken from Lake Cumberland in KY which has a huge biomass of forage consisting mainly of Alewives with smaller numbers of Gizzard and Threadfin Shad. The limits on Cumberland are 2 fish per day, 24" min length. I do have several Striper/Hybrid lakes within an hours drive. I will be hitting one of them this coming weekend.
