View Full Version : Chain Saw problems
PRBuzz 07-24-2011, 10:39 AM I hadn't used my chain saw (Husqvarna Rancher 55) for about a year and having troubles. Checked the air filter, plug and fresh gas but will only run for a few minutes if I'm lucky. Have to play with the choke and won't take wide open but likes about 50%?
Any clues what is wrong?
Anyone recommend a repair shop (near Brockton).

agreed, there should be a little bowl on the bottom or side of the carb, remove clean with carb cleaner and you should be good to go.
BigBo 07-24-2011, 11:51 AM I have that same saw and experienced the same problem. Do the same as the others suggested. Cypress Equipment in Hanson is pretty good on repairs.
ProfessorM 07-24-2011, 12:19 PM luv my Husky, Midway Power Equipment in Norton , just off 495, sells them and has always done me good.
justplugit 07-24-2011, 12:47 PM Use a high test gas during the season, without ethanol, along with some Stabil
and Carbmaster at the end of the season running it dry, and that will prevent most of your problems.
PRBuzz 07-24-2011, 01:07 PM Thanks for all the leads. I usually use 87 Oct with Stabil. I've had the saw 4 yrs and this is the first time with these problems.

just means that possibly the fast fuel port is semi clogged
and they can be blown out with air or red straws off cans
just remember to use proper sheilding to prevent blow back
thats the most important thing
Swimmer 07-24-2011, 06:30 PM The ethano; ruined one carb on my Echo. After having it replaced it runs at top rpm. Didn't know it worked so good prior to.

Try the Carbmaster, and be sure to have all your power equipment
tuned up, and proper tire inflation to save energy. ;)

Sea Dangles 08-03-2011, 06:14 AM Bobs Ski Doo in Easton is a dealer and service center. Go to the Union Villa next door for a pizza.
PRBuzz 08-03-2011, 06:59 AM Thanks but it is at the Farm Supply on Manley St WB, they are a Husq's dealer. Seems to be more complicated than thorough cleaning and key parts replacement.
