I'm going to take a ride south of Noman's tomorrow...any intel appreciated. Going to take my son and the newbee Hajimasabi.

I've never been down there but may head as far as 10 miles south.

I was Cutty on Saturday, chased off the water by the lightning that came thru and the talk on the dock was that the pods of small BFT that were just south a little over a week ago had dispersed. Someone said the solid block of warmer water that was there had broken up.
Later a crew came in that had been at the Claw and said they had lost a pretty good Mako at the boat the hit on the troll, other than that nothing but bluefish.
Again this is just what I heard or was told, so do with it what you will.
You never know, till you go.

Went thru that area on Saturday ! In 115' of water We doubled up within 10 min of lines in. My Kids could not believe it. You WILL find fish between 5 mi south of nomans and the claw. 20-75#
troll the usual spread.
You might also see white marlin! I have seen 3 so Far around this very area! (no luck hooking up yet though)
Went to long island for a couple days, stayed overnight in orient ( met bob rocherta), and I am now at block for a few days. Heading to cutty on thursday. Plan to fish some of the way across.

Small bluefin tuna, one hit a small splashbar , the other hit a green machine daisy chain.
Once you hit the tip of the claw troll west... There are patches of cooler water (66) with sharp breaks to 71. Keep an eye out on the temp and look for bait sprays.
I would not call it fantastic but every trip I have found them
And don't hesitate to stop early if it looks fishy, some of these fish are within site of land

Green machines, red/green feathers and smaller sized spreader bars work well down there as does meat. Bump up your trolling speed. Those smaller bft's want the bars a little faster than the older ones. Have a pitch bait ready in case whitey shows up.

Sandman you still seeing any sustainable pods on top down there?

Not the last trip... Blind trolling caught them.
A couple weeks ago there was more surface action.

Old school tip for the Whities - have a rigged eel set up for the pitch. They'll hit them blind as well.

My dad/grandfather used to use them for trolling daytime swords down there, and their biggest PIA was they couldn't keep the whites off them.

We saw'em jumping, we chased, we did not hook'em. But the scouting was worth it as my first time south of Noman's. Found a temp break that went from just under 65 to just over 69. The party is a lot smaller down there, we were the only boat horizon to horizon except when looking back toward the islands.

No more than 10 min after picking up Hajimasabi (Brian) at Woods Hole Aquarium dock, I had him on schoolies. Seems they preferred the lure to the fly although I was routing for the 1st striper taken on my boat via fly pole.. If you guys get the chance over the next month, I do recommend Brian..he has worldwide fishing experiences.


Picked up some fluke, scup, blues, and lots of undersized BSB on the way back.

I will be departing BI tomorrow headed to CH but I plan to swing out to the fairway buoy and head to the claw and then to CH for the afternoon/night. I plan to fish 1/2 of the way

ah the nomadic life indeed, probably only used half a tank of fuel anyway
