View Full Version : 4 Leg Tourneys! NEED DATES!
JohnR 04-27-2003, 09:24 AM We gotta start thinking dates for the 4 Leg Tourneys....! Suggestions for June / July RI & Cape please...
For those that are new, every year we have a Catch & Release tourney for prizes. In June and/or July, we'll meet at one place and bar-b-q then fish, once in RI and once near the Cape in Mass, and we'll do it all over in Sept / Oct - hence the 4 leg...
It's free but you need to be a member in good standing and fish with other members... I'll have more details soon :) ...
redcrbbr 04-27-2003, 02:26 PM seeing all the things that we had to rearrange around last year maybe we should try and keep the same weekends as we did last year. hopefully we won't have any conflicts this year.
Saltheart 04-27-2003, 02:52 PM How about mid June for the Canal area one. How about June 21?
JohnR 04-27-2003, 03:49 PM I think Rhody needs to be first :) ...

Nooooooo...weeeeeedddddddiiiiiinnnnnnnggggg aaaaaannnnniiiiiivvvvveeeeeeeerrrrssssaaaarrrrrryy yyyyyyyyyyyy..... :err: :gorez:
TheSpecialist 04-27-2003, 05:30 PM Honestly June is an excellent month for the Cape. Maybe we can do May for RI.
Canal Good Jul
Point Judith May?
JohnR 04-27-2003, 06:49 PM OK - can we do two weekends back to back or is that going to kill people? Tides are good June 14 in Rhody (but it is a full moon :rollem: ) and some of you like the 21st... I don't want to push Rhody into July, if we need to push them apart I'd rather have the Cape in July and not sacrifice Rhode Island like in previous years... The weekend of June 28 is out because of the MSBA Boat & Shore Tourney....
Scotch Bonnet 04-27-2003, 06:50 PM Keep in mind we're running 2 weeks behind tempature wise. This week will kick start things though.
Could get some more info on the Tourny
Cape in Joo-Lie......just not the first week.....
Goose 04-27-2003, 08:24 PM june 7 ?
mrmacey 04-27-2003, 08:28 PM my 1st anniverasary dont think she will appreciate fishing!!!
TheSpecialist 04-27-2003, 09:01 PM John lets not do back to backs. Also if we try to make everyones schedule fit, we will be lucky to get one leg. Lets set all four dates now, that way if you can't make the first one, you plan on one of the others. We can do cape late sept early oct. Let's just pick one weekend in each month, (June, July, Sept, October) and say Cape or RI. Also remember Cttyhnk.
Slipknot 04-27-2003, 09:21 PM John, just pick the dates yourself now and fit them around you're schedule and what you think the best weekends will work for where.
I think somewhere around late May early June for RI and June to July for Mass. Then late Sept for Mass(or Cuttyhunk :) ) and Oct for RI.
Let's do the 1st RI leg on the rock :D:faga: :soon:
TheSpecialist 04-27-2003, 09:43 PM I like what Slip is saying, and I second the motion. ;)
BasicPatrick 04-27-2003, 10:58 PM John,
Here are some dates that you might want to avoid...
May 17...MBBA Spring Meet
May 31-June 1...Tri State Cape cod
June 21 - 22...Santini Tournament
June 28-29...MSBA Charity tournament
July 12-13...ASA Old salt
July 27...MSBA Annual Outing
August 16-17...ASA Monahans
September 20-21...ASA Wareham
September 6-7...Tri State Maine
October???...Tri State RI
October ???...MDA tournament RI
macojoe 04-27-2003, 11:35 PM I am in!! I think later is better for the Cape. So end of June would be nice as I will be Comm. Fluking the first 2 weeksof June. July anytime,First week I will be camping in the canal area and will have my boat with me. Is this boat or shore fishing?? Need to be member of Site or MSBA?? No mater I joined the MSAB at the show :wiggle:
John you pick all 4 now and then everyone will have time to make arrangments for the up coming event.
Just a thought
Saltheart 04-28-2003, 01:06 PM Back to back is a bad idea. You will get people one week or the other , not for both.

That's why I'm asking :)
The only Tourneys that I can't try to conflict with is the MSBA Boat & Shore Tourney - not because I'll be fishing it (I am hoping to though) - and any potential Cutty trip. June 21 seems great for the Cape and I'll be at Edaville that Saturday morning anyway :) .
I really wanted to have the Rhody leg before the Mass Leg. I also really want the best weekends FISHING WISE. The problem is that other good tides happen on the Weekends of Memorial Day - New Moon :D - and the EARLIEST time to do it in Rhody (still conflicts with Tri-State but not a deal breaker) and 4th of July weekend - Full Moon :rollem: :D - that's the other scheduling problem... This is also why I'm looking for suggestions...
Saturday June 21 is also great for Rhody and can be done with Saturday July 11th good on the Cape and in other parts of Mass.
As for the fall legs, we'll need to work something out as Specialist had a great idea that some of us will get rooms for the whole weekend and have the families down... But I do need to get the early summer dates down really soon....
Thanks! Oh yeh, I'll have more details on the Tourney as soon as I can type something out :as:
TheSpecialist 04-28-2003, 04:17 PM There are your dates John. June 21 for Rhody, July 11 for the Cape. Lock the thread, start a new one with the official dates, before we get some :( about them. Then people can make plans accordingly. :)
Saltheart 04-28-2003, 04:31 PM I vote May 31 , weekend after Mem Day , New Moon weekend. Then 3 weeks later June 21. I think RI first and cape second.
macojoe 04-28-2003, 04:35 PM June 21 for the cape sounds good to me. It is a no fish day for Fluking so I can go. No one ever answered if it is a boat or shore deal or both??
TheSpecialist 04-28-2003, 04:44 PM Shore only.
macojoe 04-28-2003, 05:02 PM I guess I will be able to dust off that grapite surf rod I bought 4 years ago and have never used. :laughs: I ne I would someday
JohnR 04-28-2003, 07:00 PM Ah - very cool! I vote for Rhody leg that last weekend of May, Saturday May 31 (sorry Tri-Staters), and the Cape Leg to be June 21! More details will follow in the next couple days.
This is a shore only fishing Tourney for S-B members only (boat guys need to get their feet dirty :) ). Each meet is a leg, there are 4 total (well, there is a fith seim-official leg). First we burn perfectly good food and eat, then we go off in smaller groups and fish... All fish must be caught, measured by another member, and then released alive. Fish over 36 inches count towards the top 3 spots for the end of the year...
:D - Gonna be another cool year!
denis 04-28-2003, 09:29 PM Dates are good, same places as last year?
shore manic 04-28-2003, 10:05 PM can't wait !!  haven't fished rhody yet.

JohnR 05-17-2003, 08:18 AM We may be having the fall Rhody Leg at Weekapaug but I haven't talked to Charlie yet. I hope to talk to him in the next 2 weeks.
We'll have the early Rhody leg just over the line in CT at Don's new shop. To help Don kick off the new shop, I figured we'd have the 1st leg at the new shop to help him open it up...
We (the site) want to have a good relationship with both Weekapaug & KingCoveOutfitters...
Bill L 05-17-2003, 11:25 AM So thats the twist! And I thought it was the Mashed Potatoes
31st it is, correct? (actually never saw a real confirmation of the date). New moon, looks GOOD
Mar T, check out the camp sites at Burlingame State Park in Charlestown if the parking lot is a no-go.
Who's got the lighter fluid for the burgers? :laughs:
