AMESBURY, Mass. -- An Amesbury teen broke a record after reeling in a 458-pound blue shark.
It took Ethan Lynch more than a half hour to reel in the largest shark on record off the coast of Rockport.
"I had no idea if it was a tuna or what, but then someone on the tuna tower yelled ‘Oh my God, It’s a shark,’ and I got to the side of the boat and realized this is a big, big fish,” said Lynch.
Lynch, 15, used cod as bait to reel in the 12-foot, 458-pound shark. He caught it while aboard the Erica Lee 2 as part of the Coastal Discoveries Marine Education Camp. The camp lets kids explore the waters and creatures in them, but no one was ready for the catch.
