What a surprise, oil is down around $85 per barrel, but with this hyped up end of the world storm expect fuel prices to spike !!!

I remember when it was $40 a barrel and gas was around $1 a gallon:confused: It's all BS!
I have a feeling the prices will drop in order for the big 0 to improve his chances at reelection.

when every media outlet is saying
the smartest thing to do is to buy gas
to be prepared for the storm
thus increasing the demand.:fury:

I remember in the 70's we were running out of all fossil fuels. We were waiting in line for max $10.00 worth every other day depending on the last number of your license plate (odd/even).. I was driving a 383 road runner .. Master Blaster chokes off the valve .. Who run Barter Town ?

Some countries still use the odd / even method to keep cars off the road...and I remeber gas at $0.37...and my folks got all their silverware and glassware when we bought gas. Well there and the Green Stamps place. : )

Yep ... the 72 gas shortage ... long lines ... my buddy and his brother lived about a block from one of the gas stations and made a killing selling coffee and doughnuts that their mother made for them to sell ...

... granted "a killing" to a 7-year-old in 1972 could have been a mere $5 or $10 bucks ... I have no idea how much he made ... but it was enough to get a newspaper article written about it ...

... and I am sure many of those people waiting in the long lines to buy gas thought better of it after about 20-30 minutes of drinking the coffee ...

Remember all the cool stuff you could get with Green Stamps!

Had a Beetle in those days. My odd day ration of gas lasted a couple of weeks. Very glad for that.

I bought a Martin Automatic Fly reel with green stamps as a kid. Spring loaded retrieve. Robin egg blue, weighed about a lb. Got a cheap flyline, too. Didn't have a flyrod. Put it on a Garcia Conlon 8 or 9ft spinning rod, bought a single royal coachman fly, went fishing in a local pond, hooked a 4" sunfish, and skittered that fish right in with the automatic retrieve. Decided flyfishing was no fun and moved on to snagging pickerel. :)

I remember 4 gallons for a dollar when I had my 65 GTO. My buddies and I would chip in and throw the change we had in our pockets a drive around all night.

Not the same world. Wish I has the foresight to garage that car.

I wish you had the foresight to sell it to me. Right around '80 or so. Garaged or not!

that car right now would be worth something around $30k maybe more.

I saw the original Tin Indian car at my shop a few weeks ago. That was a 66, worth ~250k. It's sitting in the new Pontiac museum now.

Thank goodness I was working in a gas station during the gas shortage and got a full tank whenever I wanted to. We were giving max of $1.00. A lady from NY pulled in and said to fill it up. Told her $1.00 max and she got mad as hell and said OK. She took .75 worth.
