Finally decided to take the plunge and bought myself a Nikon D5000 DSLR camera. Best decision I've made yet! The difference in the quality is indescribable.

Katie 09-03-2011, 05:29 AM Thanks :) there's a special time of day half in the morning- half in the evening when the sun is low and the colors change to an almost irredecesant glow... it only lasts for like ten minutes... I have some like that, but total spot burn if I post them. Haha UserRemoved 09-03-2011, 08:00 AM Nice pics Katie Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device spence 09-03-2011, 09:15 AM I've been shooting with a D5000 for about 2 years. It's a great camera...if you haven't bought an extra battery then get one. If you haven't bought a bag, the Crumpler Four Million Dollar Home will fit the camera with a lens, an extra lens and a few accessories perfectly. It's not that expensive and you can get them on Ebay. Unless you're shooting movies, a 4GB card will hold a lot of photos. Here are a few pics from the Franklin Park Zoo this week. -spence Saltheart 09-03-2011, 10:40 AM Definitely a more pro level camera. Now you need a 50 mm f/1.4 lens. :) spence 09-03-2011, 11:19 AM Definitely a more pro level camera. Now you need a 50 mm f/1.4 lens. :) That would be nice to have. The 18-55 zoom that comes standard is pretty versatile, but the extra aperture would be very helpful indoors. -spence Saltheart 09-03-2011, 11:56 AM I was thinking for portraits, the facial features are outstanding at the low f stop. spence 09-03-2011, 12:31 PM I was thinking for portraits, the facial features are outstanding at the low f stop. You don't think my portrait of Nebe (first pic) has decent facial features? :rotf2: -spence Saltheart 09-03-2011, 12:47 PM He never looked so good! :) PRBuzz 09-03-2011, 04:13 PM Spence: are you hand holding or using a tri/monopod? spence 09-03-2011, 07:16 PM Spence: are you hand holding or using a tri/monopod? Handheld 50-200mm DX zoom. The primate was even taken through thick plexiglass! For a camera under a grand with two lenses it's a damn good unit. Katie, take LOTS of photos :hihi: Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Katie 09-03-2011, 07:57 PM :D I do a lot of portraits. Thanks for the suggestion on the bag, I've been using this older Minolta bag I have from an old 35mm film camera that I have. I have a 4gig card in it already, and for right now it's okay. But within the next week or so I'll be purchasing a bigger one. First 2 are taken with the D5000, 3rd is with my other old faithful camera. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
