I picked up a new Shimano 4000 spinning reel today, and loaded it with 12 lb braided FireLine, backed with 20 pound Yozuri mono.....MAN this braid stuff casts like silk.......and what a connection direct to the fish.....no stretch at all.....and the 12 pound test has a diameter of a 6 lb. mono line.....I'll never go back to mono after throwing this stuff.....awesome.......anyone else in love with the braids???

I use 20lb strength Fireline (moss color) on a conventional set up. I like using it on jigs, because of its sensitivity, and slowly I have been adapting to all other set-ups. I like how it casts. I am also waiting paitiently for that "free bee" from spiderline braids , that mikecc told us about. No complaints to speak of just praise.

Only beef I have with Fireline is that it frays after a while.

I'm swtiching all my bottom fishing line over to power pro from fireline to get away from the fraying.

I have used it for about 6 years now. I use 14 lb test omn my 8' rod. I have tried many other braids and this one has worked the best for me.

One of the reasons it freys depends on what type of guides you have on your rod. I have a custom made G-loomis and had them put the hard guides on it and my fireline no longer freys.

So Just a suggestion if you don't have hard guides on the rod you might want to have the tip guide changed this will help as I had a friend of mine change it on a Penn Power graph rod I had and it worked out fine.

Just spooled up 2 reels with Spider Stealth - loved the braid that was on my 4000 last year - just forgot what the heel it was!:smash:

Nothing like getting a stiper to tail walk:happy:

Use Spiderwire myself, have for 6 years now, 30# moss on Finnor Estima. Never have problem even when hitting the blues.

Fire line and spider wire Love it. I am trying stealth again this year. Worked ok last year but I don't think the diameter is what they say. I am using 65# 15 Diam more like 20 I think??

macojoe---agreed. That stuff is like cable compared to 65# Whiplash. I couldn't get 300 yards on my Nautil 7500. I'd say it's at least 20# mono equivalent, maybe 25#.
