Disturbing ... Men in tights ... Isn't there a law ? If your going to wear tights you shouldn't be making snide remarks or yelling at people who don't leap out of the way of Tour de France. I've heard about it ,but never witnessed the level of ignorance I've seen today . Kick his azz Sea Bass ...

Larry .. I've had season's like that when I just couldn't get to the water when I wanted too .. I saw pics of you and Matt with cows and hitting it right all the time . I made it for the scraps . This is my best year ever (didn't even fish in August) only because my boss kept laying me off when the fishing was good .. dumb luck I guess .. Keep the Faith Bro ..

My best year since the 70s. I have put in a lot of time but I have caught a ton of bass. Biggest was around 37-38# so no monsters. Still hundreds of 20#+ fish and maybe 30, 30#+ fish. I would say that the ratio is probably 70% to 30% boat fish to surf caught.

my season had sucked this year,

due to work, the kid, and other things didn't get out as much as I wanted, watched other people bail 30's-40's outta the canal in the spring, and honestly the times I went out I was skunked. But went out on Labor day, caught my first fish of the year, a black sea bass, then a few days later, I caught a schoolie bass, also my first of the year. Last week got into some albies and had a blast. These 3 trips have turned my season around. Don't get discouraged, it's about enjoying the time out there that matters. Catching is just a bonus.

Nah, just a change in where the fish are. Plenty of fish around and also more schoolies than I've seen in at least 5 years. I'm actually pretty encouraged by the number of small fish I've been seeing. Hopefully it's a sign that things aren't as bad as a lot of people think.

Don't feel too bad Larry, last night was the first time I wet a line in 3 months. Just the way the cards of life fell. . . . . . . . . Oh, by the way I didn't even get a bump.

And another thing, if a person wears spandex and it looks like a sock filled with cottage cheese, spare us the agony of witness.

Typical reply from someone that has the attitude, "as long as im catching, nowhere else matters". Just wait until your area goes dry.

I could say that yours is a typical reply from someone bitter about their lack of success, but I won't. My spot most likely won't go dry because I fish a lot of different spots. I move around and fish different areas and tides and work pretty hard for the fish I'm lucky enough to catch. All I said was that I'm encouraged by the number of small fish I've seen and caught this year. This is the second time you've played the "woe is me" card and blamed a decline in fish populations. Maybe you're just unlucky because the evidence points to there being a lot of stripers out there being caught.

I too fish mant different areas and cover a ton of territory. I only fish at night and I fish pretty hard. Also, this is not only me catching a small amount of fish this year. A couple of the hard core guys that fish with me and the region I fish have been seeing a huge decline the past few years.
Sorry if I sounded quick with u, but I don't understand some people out there. If I was still catching fish, but people in other areas saw a rapid decline in their region, I would be concerned. I just understand people's thinking....as long as they don't see it, everything must be ok. That is not the right mentality.

Myself and many others here believe there is a problem with the striped bass fishery...as usual it will have to crash before anything gets done! 2 fish a day in Ma. is 1 fish more than anyone needs in a day.

LOL! Same here. And it's not for lack of trying.
I'm just telling it like it is. We fish hard and we have had many skunked nights.
If you guys fished we're I did and you saw the lack of fish, I have no doubt you would be very concerned.

I'm not being a wise ass, but the fish are where the bait is. I agree that the stocks are down, but there are still fish to be caught. As I mentioned before, I've seen a lot more small fish this year than in several years. Also, look at the commercial catches and how early the comm season closed this year. The commercial boat guys weren't struggling to find fish.

I just think everybody needs to look at the bigger picture. If my area is affected first, then it's another area and then your area. The lack of fish in my area should be a concern to even the areas that are well populated. Because at one time, my area was populated pretty nicely. It is not just this year. It has been a downward trend. I am only speaking from experience.
