View Full Version : Got my first albies today
RIJIMMY 09-18-2011, 05:36 PM went out looking for albies this morning. saw some bird action @ 6:15. Saw a few boils and casted a deadly #^&#^&#^&#^&. After the second cast, I had a fish on. I thought it was a small blue. Pretty psyched once I saw it was an albie. My first ever. I was disappointed with the fight, not a big deal. Not even to a 5 lb blue. Saw albies coming up all over, it was a cool sight. A few more casts and I had another, this one fought like a monster, went straight down, I was in 80ft of water and kept pulling drag. This was more like I imagined. There wasnt another boat around. I chased them for awhile, but never hook up again. Landed 2.
Looked around for another hour and called it an early morning.
ProfessorM 09-18-2011, 05:49 PM good for you Jimmy. Nutin beats them for fun IMO. Got one yesterday just as I lifted the lure out of the water, in 6 feet of water. Talk about a killer fight. Super green fish 3 feet from the boat. I did laps around the boat several times trying to keep it out of the motor and swim platform.

UserRemoved1 09-18-2011, 07:34 PM Awesome Jim. That's a real small albie. I will guarantee when you catch a big one you won't say the same thing about the fight :hee:

MrHunters 09-19-2011, 07:53 AM what kind of tackle were you using...? that's an awesome fight on light stuff.
bassballer 09-19-2011, 08:08 AM the fleet was out chasing them around yesterday morning. They were pretty elusive yesterday. Pop up for 15 seconds then they were 1/4 mile down.
RIJIMMY 09-19-2011, 08:20 AM what kind of tackle were you using...? that's an awesome fight on light stuff.
a light schoolie/bluefish rod - st croix tidemaster, 12lb test tied directly to a deadly #^&#^&#^&#^&.
The first one there was barely a fight, the second one was a great fight.
