Better hunker down in the 'ol man cave until the the junk has passed or crashed. This is somwhat symbolic of our current beaurocratic way of thinking: A multi-million dollar project fails, and instead of fixing it, let it crash and (possibly) cause millions more in the aftermath!

Hmmm, it was launched in 1991 and designed to work for 3 years, yet has been in service until 2005. Even today 6 of 10 instruments are still functioning but it's out of propellent and can't keep orbit...
Sounds like some government spending that's delivered an ROI well, well beyond initial expectations.
