I was walking down the access rd. To fish and I saw a disturbance on the top of the water less than 5 feet from shore. I figured I picked the the right place to fish. Turns out it was a mola mola hanging in the skinny water. I tried to get a pic but it bailed before I could snap one.

I had never seen one in that tight. The funny thing was a friend of mine sent me a picture of one he found on the beach up in Truro the day before asking me what IR was. Odd coincidence I guess

I've seen one in the canal before - they are pretty cool looking. Never in that close though!

Saw two of them recently out on the SW corner of Block Island- scared the crap out of me to see that monster next to the boat. Interesting fish though

I went out fishing off of P-town a couple weeks ago and saw this guy. It was the biggest one I have ever seen. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-6 ft. The pic was taken on my cell phone so it looks crappy.

I just googled mola mola. In 1910 there was one one caught in Cali. that weighed 3,500 ponuds. Holy schnikies!! Does anyone know if they have been caught around here?

They eat jellyfish I believe ... to me they look like a giant artichoke heart with fins ... people often see the fin coming out of the water and think they are sharks ...

When I saw it the juvy pogies were there as well. It was at best ten feet from the rocks. It kept this great looking woman who had stopped to chat talking to me another fifteen minutes.
