The kastmaster is a great schoolie lure especially because it has a single hook which makes releasing them easy. I have a friend who caught a 39# striper on one from shore.

Kastmasters & Hopkins are great (I don't use many CHs - just haven't cause you can't use EVERYTHING) but I use them in certain situations and probably not as often as I should. But's it's also tough to compete with ALL of the different plugs / lures / plastics / live baits / flies / yada yada yada...

I bought a tin set a few years back and love 'em. some are based on old designs that were in limbo for years and they were re-introduced....:btu:

Surf,
I fish all over the Newport area but mostly Sachuest pt..the Drive
and I really like the Mt.hope bay area(cuz that's where I live!)especialy around the salt ponds and marshes. You're close being in Fall Riv.
As far as schoolie lures go you can't beat'em.And I caught al my early season keepers on Kastmasters last year,so lets hope for a repeat!
