View Full Version : Bluefish watercolor
Swimmer 10-18-2011, 12:18 PM I did this recently using water colors. This is one of my first tries at this. I used to much color in spots. Overall the drawing came out O.K. I still need much practice. Lessons for this stuff start around $75.00 per hour, so doing it on my own is my only option.
Swimmer 10-18-2011, 12:25 PM Here it is!
nightfighter 10-18-2011, 12:33 PM Nice Frank! Looking forward to future works. Keep at it. Impressive for your first piece!
ecduzitgood 10-18-2011, 12:41 PM That's very nice!

Wow very nice! If that's your first attempt, you have the knack. Try to blend your colors more and use more water on the paper to bleed them together.

fishbones 10-18-2011, 01:01 PM Very nice, Frank! You definitely have some talent. I'm still drawing stick figures.
Saltheart 10-18-2011, 01:48 PM The fish and mouth etc is excellent , beetter than many I have seen from more experienced people. I do agree some of the color is too much but you really did capture what a bluefish looks like in the basic drawing!

Thats the part I am really skeptical about. Didn't want to flood the painting. I know washing is the term, ande I need to work on it. Thanks NEBE
O.D. Mike 10-18-2011, 04:22 PM Nice work Frank!!!! I've done some research on drawing and found a lot of interesting "how to videos" on you tube.... Give it a try!!!
Keepem coming!!!
Raven 10-18-2011, 04:22 PM you did very well i think
as the shape is perfect...
colors take more time to master
but most people cannot get the form right
forever and you did it first try....
Chesapeake Bill 10-18-2011, 07:10 PM Most Excellent!
ThrowingTimber 10-18-2011, 07:28 PM that looks OUTSTANDING!
two tips:
try wetting the whole sheet of paper before you start this will aid in having the colors blend or melt into eachother a bit more :)
and go super light on the colors as you can always add a bit more but once its on there its tougher to thin it out!
PaulS 10-18-2011, 07:40 PM Wow, very nice. I wish I has some talents!
justplugit 10-18-2011, 08:35 PM Uze got talent. :btu:
chefchris401 10-18-2011, 09:25 PM That's great frank!!
Keep it up. Practice and patience will pay off.
I'd buy one!

Jackbass 10-19-2011, 08:26 AM Nicely done. For blending buy a couple of fan brushes and start fairly dry. You have a good eye obviously just trust it. If you think something is going awry step away from it and come back to it. Great work.
