Talk about upset ,
Unearthed my crop of sweet potatoes (first time ever) that looked good as gold , see old pictures in another thread

Only to find 1/2 doz 4 inch fingerlings or as I call it ZIPPO

Talked with a local farmer at the farmers market at work here and they said the same thing , the ones I planted sux and they said to use the following www.newhopeseed.com (http://www.newhopeseed.com) and to buy the old stand by BEAUREGARD sweet potatoes

They also used the ones I bought with the same results, and also like this vendor better

So , I will try again next year :)

vent over after 125 days

Did you have the soil covered in black plastic with just little slits to let the plants out? They need really warm soil and the only way to do that around here is to let it bake under the black plastic which absorbs the sunlight.

BTW I used Georgia Jets variety. Bearegauards may be better for around here.

BEAUREGARD sweet potatoes, thats the seed I used. I know I posted how they came out before. Mine had a lot of room to grow in the raised bed, which is one reason I had some success. I still have regular taters to dig up.
