Anyone catch that meteor last night? 7:30 - 8 pm or so, west to east, flat trajectory, big, slow (in the sense that it covered a lot), broke up in the end?

Clammer: wasn't the satellite.

Clammer: wasn't the satellite.

ISS (the space station) did pass over a couple nights ago just after dusk but obscured by clouds. Should not have been visible again last night.

The next meteor shower is the Orionids which peaks early morning of October 21. Pieces from Halley's Comet....I think are the origins. So what you are seeing might be those from the outermost from the cloud.

Wasn't the ISS unless it had a REALLY BIG problem :rotf2:

This was a big one to the south, west to east, and long slow, flat trajectory. Broke up at the end as you could see how it split into smaller pieces before fizzling out.

check out spaceflight.nasa.gov this site has all the times and locations the International Space Station can be seen. Pretty cool, Jake and I have watched many times.

One of the many things I miss from my over fifty years of fishing is the wonderful heavanly show's that shower down and past us in the space around us.
So long ago, I cannot remember when, but I was priveleged to have a Father and two Son's onboard for a night trip, and between bites they discussed the sky, which fortunatly was crystal clear that night, the stars were "reach up and touch them close". They named and talked about the visible Planets and the many Star Clusters. I got so interested I fell off the fish several times but came back to them often enough to keep everyone interested in fishing!!!!

It's the end of the world. The atmosphere is splitting apart. It has begun

Hi John... Health is good but all those years knocking around in sea and surf have caused my pins to be weak and arthuritise is my companion now. Helps to tell the weather anyway. Just got down here to Florida till May or June. No more boats but Motor Home makes land cruising great.
Regards to you and all of the Striped Bass.Com Family...
