I netted a few crawfish today, but got no love from bass (largemouth), I hooked thru the tail, is that the right way to hook these?

When i do use live ones i hook em just under the back along the shell with the hook coming up and facing the head it doesn't seem to hindr their swiming to me. and with the hook up and all i get a better hook set and lose fewer fish.
If you're removing one claw, be sure and just crush it at the joint and lightly pull until the crawdad releases it. This way it stays alive longer.
however i tend to jig, instead.

I hook them in the tail from the bottom up and they swim awesome

Hook Strait down and thru/ around the last tail section, the big one, so they swim away from you
